Is there something wrong with the sensors? It just started happening as the temperature dropped heavily.


The first time it did it, I checked and one of the tires was kinda low, at 30PSI compared to the others... thought ok. So i got it up to around 50ish. Second time around, It flares up again. This time though no tire pressure change within ALL tires.

Whats going on? It probably will happen again 15mins into my drive today.....

Sounds like you have a sensor out of its programmed position or just a bad sensor. Have you rotated your tires lately? New tires?

I say bad sensor.

They should never come on after only 15 min of driving.
Unless you just installed these rims ... Like that day.

Usually if it's pressure related it will take at least 30-40 min for them to trigger

I have the same issue, when it gets really cold the light will go on until the tires warm up. All my sensors spec tested ok when I recently had my new tires installed. I had this happen on other cars too so I think it is just one of those things you might have to just deal with every year when the temp drops.

i have a similar issue but mine comes on about 30 miles into the drive. I think that the dealer can reset it to solve the problem.

Thanks for the input guys. Went to get a haircut, 15min drive... and nothing. Hopefully it will stop turning on.


If not, will see if I can have it reset. Will the dealer do it for free? Or is there a do it yourself way to do that?

The TPS alert comes on at 28 lbs, if you're running 35 lbs in your tires like Nissan suggested try 37 lbs maybe the 2 extra lbs will keep the sensors from coming on in freezing weather....couldn't hurt to try!

just have the dealer reset the sensors... if not there not expensive to replace.. they go for $150 a sensor but there are websites that have them for 100

Try putting nitrogen into the tires. Won't change pressure as much as 'air' due to heat/cold. Cost me $20

50 psi is too much. Try bringing that one tire back down to 35ish and see what happens. If still a no-go, prolly battery going bad in sensor.

Yea I read that the front tires max is 51psi. The backs are 61psi.

So how much should I keep these pumped to in either? Front or Back?

in the manual that came with my 05 G35 5AT it said pressure should be ~35psi, so idk.

Would a Nissan dealer be willing to work on this problem? (I have it too, but all my tires are at 35psi)

I run 45 psi in back and 40 in the fronts. I had my sensor click on in November when the pressure dropped below 30 psi. I adjusted them back to 45 & 40 and haven't had an issue since. I suggest going to atleast 40 if you're in a really cold area. (Sub 30 degrees). Putting the psi at 40 will allow for some flex on days when the temperature drops below zero without triggering the sensor... unless of course your sensor is broke like others suggested.
