There was a recall several years ago over this particular issue, I believe it has something to do with the filler neck pipe. Call Infiniti and let them know about the gas tank issues you're having. You might also ask this question at www.infinitihelp.com they seem to have all the right answers.

Mine sometimes does that at 1/2 but I can usually fix it. Def go to Infiniti for the recall though.

If its not your car, than its the gas pump. Some gas pumps are falty and will not fill up your car to a full tank

I thought my car was the only one that did that
But i have found that depending on the gas pump you can fill up. It just takes a few min more. Plus i dont really fill up my car all that often.

I took my car in for this back in aug 2009.

Here is what is on the invoice:

Performed ITB08-041A. Replaced fill limit vent valve cover.

Here is the PDF file for the TSB. Looks like it affects 03-08 models.

http://www.infinitig37.com/TSB/1SC29.pdf

Look at the TSB, looks like it's a biotch to do. LOL Check out the pics. They have to stick their hand into the tank and the tank has to be empty before they work on it.

Yes, that's why I took it in. Every time I pump gas, it keeps clicking off and won't let me fill it no matter what I do. I read where some people had to turn the nozzle upside down and crap like that. I decided to take it in because my car is still under warranty.

It cost me ZERO. Since they performed the TSB, I no longer have that problem. No matter what gas station I go to. So it is not the Gas station, but the car itself.

edit, I did it on aug 2010 not 2009.
