04 G35, Stalling/loss of power/hard to start/ CEL, VDC, SLip! FML!!

So while I was driving home today, my car suffered a complete loss of power while going around 40mph. the power came back a few secs later..
I pulled over at a gas station, shut the car off, and it didnt want to start...

I cranked it, and cranked it... and finally it started...
I had to crank it for at least 6 secs or more, and it barely wanted to start..

I pulled the code.. and it was a p0335. (crankshaft sensor) issue..

I noticed that everyone else is having to replaced their CAMshaft sensor...

Could I be having probs with my camshaft sensor??

Hopefully you check your oil frequently and its just a worn sensor.

i have a 2003.5 sedan i had a similar problem. If i punched the car it would sputter like if someone was putting a hand over my Mass air Flow Sensor. Checked the code and it was my crankshaft sensor i changed it and my car is running perfect. You can go to nissan dealer and tell them you have a 2004 350z and you need a crankshaft sensor. if you go to infiniti its 159 at nissan its 100 plus its the same part.!!

ummm no its not difficult. But i didnt do it myself. My uncle owns a shop it took him all but 2 mins. It was that long just because he had to put the car on and off the lift. LOL I think the location is in between the tranny and the engine but not to sure.

after installing the new crankshaft sensor. did all of your issues just suddenly dissappear?

Were u having a rough idle?
hard to start? and loss of power??

Slip light, Cel, and vdc light?

My Problems went right away! I didnt have any lost of power but i was having a very rough time driving every time i touched the pedal it would sputter. When it sputtered my gas mileage was terrible. I would do what ever codes are showing up. ECU really doesn't just show code for no reason. I think the sensor is bad. Its showing all the signs of crack sensor hard start, having to crank several times, rough idle all of things def show crankshaft sensor issues maybe mines was just going bad , your is just gone!!

could this be the reason for my low idle?

or is this simply fixing the hard starts and power loss?

low idle could either be low coolant or you will have to take it to the dealer and get whats called a volume air learn its like a reprogram but differnt its basically your idle

Hey, I've had this exact problem and fixed it myself on my 03 g35. It's it definately your camshaft sensor. You can pick this part up @ Autozone or Orielles for 60-70 dollars and the install only takes about 30 mins. The cam shaft sensor is located on the back on the head, meaning closest to the front windshield on the passenger side of the motor. There is a DIY located on the internet and is very simple. The sensor itself is a little hard to get out because its surrounded by so much heat but once you pop it out, you can just replace it and reset your ecu and be on your way. I think it'll take a few miles for your engine light to reset itself but all your caution lights will eventually go off.
