Which gear has the most power???

Ive noticed that second gear has the most pull in my 04 auto g35 coupe.
I frequently use the tiptronic mode.. I throw it in second gear and rev up to about 4k rpm's which is around 40mph. I floor it, and I get a decent burst of power..

However, my buddies G35 6spd has better pull in 3rd and 4th gear... He seems to have much more power than me all around...

Does the 6spd make that much of a difference?

Well yea it has an extra gear so gearing is shorter.

first gear is the shortest and will accelerate the car from a stop the quickest, a manual and the automatic have different gear ratios.

i do feel it pulling more in 2nd. When i am on the freeway at a higher speed 3rd would pull more for me. But in the city from a stop when i am in 2nd it really pulls.

thats backwards auto has less torque and less horsepower across the board look at a dyno sheet.

the 6MT get more power to the wheels because it is more direct that going through the auto with all the clutches and the gear reductions and having to turn the pump and torque converter. the extra gear of the 6 speed helps the rpm'sw not drop so much when the car shifts so it will have more power sooner after each shift.

I think Havok is referring to the non-revup vs. the revup motors. Specs I found were non revup 280 hp and 270 lb/ft torque. Revup 298 hp and 258 lb/ft torque.

Space....you drive your G why can't you answer your own question just by the way it feels? My favorite section of the RPM range is to drop it back into 3rd from 4th and nail it to pass some commuter going 30 MPH in a 50. Looking back his/her face looks like this after I've passed 'em....too much fun!
