03-05 vq ecu vs 06-07 vq ecu

I just came back from two runs with each car. One was a 2004 g35 coupe automatic and the other was. 2006 g35 automatic. Did everyone know that the ecu is set let aggressive on the newer models? When I was driving the 04 I was able to bounce the rev limiter hard like a Honda but once I drove the 06 it didn't do the same thing but instead felt Like a fuel cut off??

What does everyone think about this??

Dont know if the ECUs are different but I know the Gs ECU adapts to the way it is driven, but you can reset it.

I really doubt it. One bounces and the other is a fuel cutoff feeling.

from what I hear the 06-07 VQ ECU have different tune settings thats why you get the extra 18HP and the extra 500 RPM to redline, i know from 03-05 VQ ECU you could swap the 350z ECU with the G35 ECU. from what ppl say on the forum the 350z ECU has more aggresive timing idk if its true though

6MT Coupe
350z ECU is tuned a little hotter than G's.

G non-revup = 280hp
Z non-revup = 287hp
G revup = 298hp
Z revup = 300hp

Still doesnt make sense why the rev limiter is being hit in the 04 G35 coupe while the 06 G35 coupe is not being hit. It reaches up there but doesnt bounce like the 04 does. Instead its somewhat of a fuel cutoff feeling? Kinda is making me wonder up whats up with that???????

Also downshifting in the 04, the car didnt really rev match very good and caused a lot of jerkyness while the 06 downshifting the car rev matched and didnt cause a jerkyness feeling.

the non rev up Zs do seem to get into the power quite a bit quicker… but that can be due to weight. so it is mostly BS in my opinion

Its probably to do with the fact that in the lower gears the ECU will not let the throttle go to 100% so it likely that the later model is even less aggressive, hence the different feel, and unwillingness to rev.

Maybe it's slipping, does the light turn on when you feel that it cuts off?

03/04 didn't have a fuel cutoff like the 05+ ECU's

That is why when you go standalone on the 05+ you also have to send
your ECU to get flashed to remove the speed limiter and rev limiter not so on the 03/04

if you take the 06-07 up to the limiter… instead of bouncing, it just feels like the car "falls on its face." and no light turns on when this happens. i do heve my rev light (shift light) set to be fully lit before that, but this has no relation.

So are you saying if i get it tuned like say Uprev, I could get them to remove the speed limiter and rev limiter and then my 06 coupe wont have that fuel cutoff?

Also what do you mean by standalone?

Thats what it exactly does. Pure annoying. I want this removed!
