TPS on when it shouldnt be

06 g coupe

>Stock tires
>TPS turned on
>Put air in
>TPS turned off
>Drove for 2 weeks
>TPS turned back on
>Tire pressure is fine

The TPS flashes when the car is turned on and then turns solid after a while. I read in the manual that i should bring it to the stealership. How can i disable the sensor?

I tried a search, but i really didn't find an answer.

I've had the same issue, I took mine in the to dealer and they told me the internal batteries in my front driver and passenger rear were bad. Those batteries can NOT be replaced, so when they go bad, the whole sensor gets swapped. My car is under warranty so I didn't have to pay anything. Good luck!

Do you drive with your VDC off all the time?

I have found that if I drive with my VDC off in my car for a long time, the TPS light will come on after about 70 miles of nonstop driving. If I pull over and shut the car off and then start it back up, the light shuts off and comes back on again in about another 70 or so miles of driving with the VDC off.

I mostly drive with the VDC on, but if I'm on a long road trip of all highway driving in the summer, sometimes I'll shut it off for no particular reason.

wow the stealership replaced it for free.. u must don't have aftermarket wheels... When I had my car in for service they would not replaced them.. they wanted like 150 to switch them.... I was like hell with it.. i'll ride with the light on.. i guess when i buy more rims.. no time soon i might buy a new set.. i think think the stealership still wants 150 to program the new sensors

I think you can diagnose the problem if you see how and how many times the TPS light blinks. That info is in the service manual in the wheel and tire section. Also, have you tried a different pressure gauge? I've seen some gauges that were way off compared to a quality gauge.

Yea, i have the OEM 19" rays on my car, (currently have 18" G37 rims with my winter tires) but yea they replaced them for free, because they were the OEM rims/TPMS. But it's nothing about reprogramming them, the internal batteries are no good (i'm almost 100% sure of that, because I had similar symptoms).

Before you roll into the Stealership make sure you have 35 lbs in each tire, or 37 if you live in a cold climate. Working correctly the sensors will light up when your psi drops below 29 lbs which often happens in freezing weather for no particular reason....check your tire pressure cold!

Im running 45 because it says max pressure 50. Should it really be down as low as 35?

Always go by the tire pressure listed in the owners manual or on the sticker in the driver's door well.

The dealership told me, if the sensor blinks before it stays on, it's a bad sensor. The senor light will just stay on if you are low on air, which you are not. I keep my tires at 36 all around. isn't 45 a little too harsh for you?

This makes me wonder if I had TPMS in the winter wheels I bought from craigslist. I drove them for weeks and the TPMS light would come on and stay on. Suddenly one day on the highway it started blinking at me, and I even pulled over to get the manual out of the truck to see what was up. Anyone have any experience that suggests I may have sensors in these wheels?

........Actually this is no joking matter, members know what is says on the sidewalls of their tires but have zero knowledge of what is written in two different places on their vehicles and inside their manual! DOOEET, running 45 lbs in your tires it must ride like crap....even 40 is too high! Like I posted above 35 to 37 is correct, no higher. From what you've posted take your G into the dealership and have the sensors fixed.

Too much tire pressure causes slight ballooning of the tire and excessive wear in the center.
