Ice + VDC = Crazy Engine noise
Ice + VDC = Crazy Engine noise
So we got a lot of ice here in dallas the other day and i was driving my g around the neighborhood and I got stuck at a stop sign. I never drive with vdc on but figured since there was ice i would keep it on. I was trying to drive off from a complete stop and couldnt get any traction. the vdc kicked in and my engine was making a horrific noise (vdc cutting engine power to reduce wheel spin). I got a push from a guy walking down the street and was on my way.
My question now is that my engine doesn't sound the same to me... Sounds like the engine is higher pitch then normal. I havent technically drove my g since monday but have turned her on everyday to get all the fluids circulating and the engine warm. My car has been outside in subfreezing temperatures and was curious if this might be the cause of the noise. I might be over reacting but it just didnt sound the same to me a minute ago when i let it warm up for about 10 minutes. Thanks

yeah our abs or "slip" is honestly better off in snow. **** sucks. it doesnt allow your wheels to spin so you can get out of snow. i turn that crap off now so i can rev and shift up and move. it helps with rain though thats forsure and stability obviously, but if youre careful like i am i enjoy having it off.

Leave VDC on if you're on Ice, Rain, or just daily (safe) driving.
Turn VDC off if your driving through 2 inches or more of snow, your tracking your car, or you just like daily (fun) driving.
I got stuck this year during my first attempt driving the G through snow. Once I realized it was the VDC causing me to get stuck I learned how and when to use it. It really is a great assest for Ice though so keep it on and drive safe!
