whats this telling me...

Lately I have been noticing my exhaust has been getting louder. It's not a leak type of loud, it still has the distinct Nissan growl, but its just louder. And when I open the throttle it gets raspy (which sounds sick BTW) where as it used to just be a low growl.

On top of the exhaust, I had the sunroof open the other day and opened her up to get on the freeway and got a rotten egg smell from the exhaust. It also died once I pushed the clutch in and let the R's drop. Doesnt smell or run funny while just cruising along. I tried it again after going through a tank of fuel thinking maybe it was bad gas and still smells. Doesnt die every time, but it stinks.

Brand new plugs and filter, Oil needs to be changed soon. What could be causing this?

....^....that's your answer! How many miles on your G? Time for a set of HFCs and investing in a better grade of gasoline like the major brands might keep this from happening again. I only use Chevron or Shell when I get lazy since it's closer.

i use amoco. they offer an ethanol free high test here in NC. of course, there is only one station that offers it, and its a 20 min drive to it from home.

i do agree, if you are running 87 octane in your g, then you need to sell the car. even the high test can have high ethanol content depending on where you live.

I always run premium non-eth. Only time I wont run non-eth is if it isnt offered and I'm away from home and dont know where to find some.

And just turned 90k. I've only had the car for a few months so who knows what the previous owner ran.
