RPM fluctuation after air filter replacement

hi. yesterday i changed my noname ebay shortram intake filter to k&n filter. the problem is that at idle engine starts to fluctuate at 1000-400, but only when A/C is on. if A/C is off, rpm's are stable at ~650. if i put back on the old filter rpms ar stable no matter if A/C is on or off, with A/C its ~800, without ~650.

i have tried to disconnect battery, tried Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning procedure and Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning) procedure. but nothing helped.

what could be the problem (with old filter everything is normal). and if i take off filter (start car without any filter) rpms are fluctuating as with k&n filter...

Are you sure you reconnected the MAF sensor? I did my test pipes recently, forgot the MAF sensor and it'd idle at 1,000 rpms and drop to about 500 about every 10 seconds or so and come back up. Also had the VDC, Slip, and Engine lights on. Hooked that sucker back up, resetted the ecu and it was just fine after that.

i did try to disconnect and reconnect maf sensor. with disconnected maf rpms are stable at about 1000 rpm, slip check lights were on. after reconnecting maf and disconnecting and reconnecting battery everything is the same. same problem... everything is as was, i just changed the filter. and as i said, if i put on the old dirty filter, rpms are normal and stable...:/

Try a ecu reset or idle reset with the new filter? Just a guess. Good luck.

I had a similar problem when I replaced my filter. It took several attempts doing the throttle body and ECU resets. Good luck. Be patient>

i made those resets million times but how do i know if i make steps right? is there any indication for "ecu reseted succesfully" something like that?

by the way, i took battery our of car for the whole day, and it is still not resetted?

Sorry I had that problem when I cleaned the throttle body not replacing the filter. Speaking of the throttle body. Maybe check to make sure nothing got sucked into it. Maybe changing the filter dislodged debris and made it to the throttle body.

I took it off. There's a diy video. Its pretty easy. Just be careful when handling it.
