NOOB here. Hilarity ensues..

Hey all,

Hope this is in the right place..

Finally got tired of just leeching all of the great knowledge from here - so decided to create an account and start posting.

BIG THANKS goes out to everyone on G35Driver, this is by far one of the best online communities out there!

I've had my G for a while now, and this forum has helped me immensely. I'm planning a big DIY overhaul ("big" for a person that can hardly change his own oil lol)

Most of the parts I ordered online or ordered through my local shop and they haven't came in yet, but starting on Monday I'll be (trying to):

- Installing new rotors/pads
- Re-finish the lips on my 20's (Axis Penta - clear coat starting to flake)
- Painting calipers
- Installing new "Crankshaft Sensor" (P0335 CEL error code)
- Removing Tein H Techs - Installing new Tanabe DF210's
- Removing K&N Short Ram - Installing new AEM COI
- Also got new tires, wont be mouting/ balancing myself, but excited for new rubber lol

I have an '05 Coupe/AT/Silver-Black.. will post "before" pics soon, and will definitely post pics of my progress. Any help is MUCH appreciated!

Thanks guys!

Brent

Welcome to DRIVER Brent! You may have issues fixing the lips of your wheels, removing the clear and polishing them requires the right equipment without it you'll struggle. Find a wheel repair shop in Portland, see what kinda quality work they do and the cost. My little sister lived in Beaverton, great area!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

@DrMax - The Pentas are great, only issue I've had was the flaking Besides that I think they have a good look on G's.

@Gary - Thanks for the info! I found 2 places around here that will do exactly what I want, but they want $75/ wheel. I have heard its difficult to re-finish them, but I'm hoping I have the right equipment and I'm hoping to save $200+ by doing it myself :/
I'm starting this project soon today and ill be:
- 2 layers of masking on the center of my wheels
- "brushing" on aircraft stripper
- hopefully powerwashing off the "bubbly residue"
- spending all night with my corded drill w/ mothers powerball & aluminum polish to the lips
- re-coating with clear coat alum protectant

Think this may work, or am I in a dream world?

@Tian - The H techs are good, but I don't have the money to spend on coilovers and I wanted to be lower. Haven't seen too many G's on DF210's and 20's, so I'm hoping I didn't go TOO low, we'll find out shortly..

@BlueDream - Just wait til I get the project going.. I'm sure ill be posting some complete rookie mistakes

What're the names of the rim repair places you talked to in Portland? I've had the hardest time finding a decent shop here!

Accurate Wheel Repair is one. They are in southeast I think (sorry moved recently from socal). This is the place that quoted me $75/wheel. Definitely worth it, I just don't have the extra $$. They fixed 3 wheels on my buddy's 350z and they did an awesome job though!

Second place was Portland Wheel Works, which is in beaverton. I haven't seen there work, but I've heard a lot of good things about them, also heard they're a little pricey.
