How would getting a lip stop the bumper from being damaged?

The lip would take the damage instead of the bumper.

Yeah, I'm still not getting it. Adding something to the bottom of the bumper would only make it scrape more often, since the lip is lower. The bumper would still get scraped the same.

Research the "home depot" lip and see what its made out of. Then, compare the cost of that to the cost of having the front bumper repainted.

I understand that, but how does a lip stop a bumper from being hit?

Illustrated above, going down a grade of this magnitude will scrape the bumper if there is a lip or not.

Ya, I'd also scrape my bumper if I ran into a vertical wall

A 20% slope is hardly vertical

But what kind of idiot drives their car towards a big incline like they are driving an suv? If they can't figure that out they probably are driving the wrong car, and definitely shouldn't even considering lowering their cars.

If their car is lowered they need to learn their car's limits the best they can, but most substantially lowered cars are going to have the bottom of their bumpers scratched up regardless.

I had kind of the same problem before, when I bought my G, it was used and there was a huge, deep scratch on the rear bumper cover that went all the way through the paint to the black of the bumper itself. I went to Wal-Mart and picked up some "Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0". Not thinking it would work for this I tried anyway and it completly filled the scratch. To this day it is nowhere near noticable. I did this a year ago. I suggest giving this a shot before anything else.

I'm just saying if one is in a situation where their bumper is too low, a lip isn't going to stop a thing.

LOL@scraped bumpers. If you drive your car low, the only thing that will stop the bumper from scraping is if the car isn't moving. All a lip will do is crack and bend. Depending on how it's attached, it could cause more damage.

The only way the HD lip idea would work is if you attached it to the splash gaurd and rolled it up over the bumper. And that would be short lived because it would eventually scrape through that rubbery nonsense. From seeing HD lips, I can't imagine that's what you meant.

1) Avoid ramp, or
2) Take ramp at 45 degree angle
3) Try a cup kit
4) Remove bumper
5) Buy a truck

I didn't want to start a new thread so i'm hoping someone might see this. I have some touchup to do on my bumper and i'm trying to locate the right Duplicolor. They don't list a 'brilliant silver' or 'silver alloy' in either the Nissan or 2005 infiniti coding chart. Am i missing something? Is it the silver mist version?

Any help would be appreciated. I have a touchup KOY stick but i'm looking for a spray can.
