Where to buy an '05 for less?

Hey guys. Can someone explain to me the VPP pricing or the Grubbs discount pricing? I live in Florida and the dealers here will only take MSRP. I'd rather buy it from up north and have it shipped if I can save a few grand. I'll have to order the car anyways as the options I want are rarely at the dealership. Anybody recommend a place who will give me a deal. TIA

Re: Where to buy an '05 for less?

Ok..I have used the search feature (Yeah!!!) and learned VPP. Or at least I learned it doesnt involve me.

If I have to order a '05, shouldn't I be able to find a dealer to get close to invoice (excl. freight). I mean, some dealer has the chance to sell a car and make a few bucks. I am not taking a saleman's time or anything, I know what I want and just want to order it from some dealer, any dealer in the US, who will take something close to invoive.

Sorry if I seem cheap on this issue but I never had to pay MSRP on any car. Cars lose too much value too quickly to pay MSRP

TIA

I think it would be tough to get invoice since the 05's have a pretty large demand right now. You should be able to get some off MSRP though. I supose it can't hurt to start canvasing the internet dept's of various dealers. Either that or wait a couple months. Good luck,

I got $800 over Invoice on a '05 6MT. I ordered last Thursday. I'm from Maryland. Don't have the invoice yet though, as soon as the dealer gets it he will fax mea copy.

$800 over invoice is excellent. I would settle for $1500 over invoice. I am in the miami area, every dealership here wants msrp, but I found one that is willing to flex a little.

I would check all the dealers within a 100 mile radius to see what you can get... best thing would be to say that you can get the car for less from another dealer and see if they would be willing to match it. Grubbs Infiniti in dallas is offering discounts to freshalloy club members only though... their price is probably around $500 over invoice plus shipping.

personally I would probably call around and tell the dealers that i could get it from another dealership for $500 over invoice and see if they match it. If they ask why would you get it from them and not take that deal, just say the other dealer is a far drive or they don't have the exact car i want, etc. Reason i don't start with invoice because for the most part its unrealistic for an 05, at least $500 over is more reasonable. Good luck!

What I did is Grubbs is offering a military discount on all '05's. So with that info I called my local dealer told him that Grubbs is offering invoice on the 05 and I was willing to do $800 over. Figuring $700 for delivery and $100 for convienece. He accepted and I got it in writing. As soon as he gets the invoice he will fax it to me.

The field day is pretty much over for the dealerships getting MSRP on the coupes or sedans.(at least here in Florida) Do your homework and be prepared to walk if you can't get between $500-$800 over invoice. Also, DO NOT PAY FOR DEALER PREP! It's all profit and unecessary. Good luck
