Are you going to use this as an excuse to change the color?

Haha I thought about it, but no. I love the DG color, and this repair is putting a big enough dent in our business that I don't want to use any more extra materials than I have to. That being said, we'll already be painting, the left quarter, blending to left door, the deck lid, blending to the right quarter, and the hood! Ah that's a lot of wet sanding for me to do next week. I'm also taking advantage of this opportunity to remove the peeling tint from my back-glass while it's out of the car... New tints will be going on next week as well.

Just cut the quarter panel off... and look what I found- rust underneath! Mostly on the body-side door jamb, but you can see some around the wheel flare as well... The foam in between the exterior and interior quarter panels is bad... it holds moisture and will eventually cause the paint to bubble from underneath... Don't know why manufacturers can't think of a better material.

Rust is taken care of, replaced the inner quarter reinforcement and now have the new quarterpanel welded on! Looks pretty sweet with the OB deck lid I purchased haha... just put on for fine tuning of the quarter fitment.

Deck lid will be etched sometime today, and I plan to get the paint work done early next week... will continue to keep you guys posted!

Dave

Glad to see you're making some headway. It's going to look good as new when you're done with it I am sure. Sorry it had to happen though.
