The G35 coupe manual says car has an alarm and an immobilizer that works only with original key. I am reregistering tomorrow since I moved, and I have a new insurance company. What kind of discounts is the oem system good for?

The only ? an agent has ever asked me is if the alarm enables automatically. I think I got a token discount for lying about that. It's going to depend on the company and the car. I wouldn't expect much though.

 

yeah dont expect a huge diff, alarm and lo jack take up to 25% off your insurace, but not 25% off your whole policy just the comprehensive section of the car with lojack so most of the time the comprehensive sction only accounts for around 100$ of your whole policy so youll only save about $25 when your all said and done.

I went to my insurance twice, showed em my manual, looks like i get 20% off comp. No need to lie for 30%. If we had onstar in our NAVI, we could gett more off.... thx guys

In So Cal cars aren't recovered. The either end up in TJ or in a cargo carrier headed arcoss the Pacific.
And if the worst should happen, and it was recovered, anything that no longer "worked" on the vehicle could be blamed on the thieves.
I've had so may breakins on my cars that Mercury doesn't even want me to come in. Just file a telephone police report and take the car to the shop. Part of the cost of doing business.
