I am In Love with this Car

Although I am still young and won't be able to afford this car for atleast till I'm of legal age or so, I know what I like and this car is definately it.

My reason for joining this forum is simple: To know all I can about this car before I actually buy it.

I just like cars and I love to drive and I see that this car can redefine "driving" for me. Especially since I "cruising" around in a MiniVan at the moment.

What I'd like to learn currently are the differences between the '03, '04, and the upcoming '05.

From spending a good part of my "homework time" on this site I've already gathered much information.

The Cons I see so far are"

Soft paint- Taking real good care of my car and waving it can help keep the damage to a minumin I believe.

Transmission on the 6MT: Although some people do not believe its capable of "smooth" shifting, doesn't the CDV (as I've read possibliy cause this problem) but from my personal experiences and talking to my Auto's teacher, the feel is based on an individual's preference, correct?

Thats all I've seen so far!

Pros

The Styling
The Handling
The Power

If anyone can add anything to this post I'd appreciate it, expecially regarding the differences between the 3 years (assuming the 2005 is already on sale) its out.

'03 vs '04

'04 has more color options
Brembo Brake Kit
Any interior changes?
Engine is exactly the same?
Any transmission changes?
Any body changes?
Wheel Sizes available same throughout?

'04 vs '05

280 Hp with 270 Torque compared to 298 Hp vs 260 Torque
The plastic from the plastic being replaced by aluminum?
All the color available still there?
Wheel Sizes available same throughout?

Thanks to all in advanced

Re: I am In Love with this Car

This car is incredible! I need it to beat my friend's IS 300 with syle and speed and we all know that a '97 Dodge Caravan with 151,053 miles can't do that.

Thanks for the information. I am/want to be one of those people that performs a smooth shift =)

I might miss the Brembo brakes look but if the G35 is cheaper for it then aftermarket is always there to help.

Has the body had any changes? I've heard that there were SLIGHT modifications to the front lip.

Thanks again for answering my question and it looks like I can learn a lot from this forum.
My goal is to get it before I reach 1500 posts =P

Re: I am In Love with this Car

Losing the Brembos wasn't cheaper for the consumers- the cars cost the same if not more for '05 (haven't seen the 6MT pricing yet for the '05's but judging by the pricing for the auto models it will be a little higher). The improvements made to the interior ate up the cost of the Brembos, so something had to give to keep the prices from a fairly big price increase. I just picked up a new '04 6MT Coupe on Nov. 6th- I LOVE it! It's truly my dream car- it is Carribean Blue, an awesome color. I really like how the 6MT shifts as well- it's really smooth to me!
I don't know why anyone would pay more for a car- the G is perfect to me. The only flaw seems to be that the paint chips easily. I had a '97 Nissan Maxima a few years back and back then I think it had a dual clear coat finish- Nissan had a special name for it but I forgot what it was. I wish they would bring that back.

Re: I am In Love with this Car

I'm 24 now, but I still remember the days of 16-17 crusing around in my mom's 1988 Voyager minivan. Don't hate on the minivan too much, it has its advantages when you dont have your own place yet
When I was 17 I fell in love with the new 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. I know its not the greatest car in the world, but I really liked the way it looked back then, and I was at least being realistic. A couple years later it was mine! The G is the first car that has made me lust for it like that since, and if a few months I'll be giving in and getting one myself. Good luck working towards your dream car...

a few other changes for the 2005 vs previous models:
3 new colors, Athens Blue, Lakeshore slate, Serenghetti Sand
Sport Suspension option (stiffer setup, 19" rims)
MP3 functionality in both audio packages

Re: I am In Love with this Car

I'm 16 now and me and my friends always joke around how it's the "BangBus" (<-LOL). The ride isn't bad. Pretty smooth and sitting up high also has it advantages.
My Dream car at the moment is the G35 and my friends wanted to beat me up (they came pretty close too) for talking about it so much. I just need my stocks to pay off- What a great BDay present that would be!

Dude, you're 16. Forget about how much YOU will enjoy driving this car. The girls love it. Think about how much you will get laid in it :-)

haha. Sorry I had to.

Re: I am In Love with this Car

First car I drove was an 86 Ford Aerostar. It was actually a fun van to drive b/c it was RWD and could do donuts in the dirt.

Plus, with the middle bench seat out, it became Da Love Ma-chine. Too bad I wasn't much of a pimp back then so I didn't get to use it too much.

To answer your question about differences in the model years, here's a few things:
-early 03 has no armrest but can be retrofitted.
-cupholders changed somewhere around 03.5-->04 or 04-->04.5
-I believe early 03's had a mechanical LSD but they switched to a viscous type
-you can go to the FAQ forum (I think) to see a list of technical service bulletins
-if you buy used, watch out for excessive oil burning. you can check their oil change receipts and see if they list how much oil they removed from the pan.

Hey, I'm a girl and I can't let that pass by. I am absolutely in love with the coupe but there's no chance for a guy to get laid just because I like his car (and I'm not a fan of just any fancy car, only the G coupe in particular). With that said, yes I did get to drive a G35 coupe for a good while (wasn't mine), and yes I am going to buy my own G next year, so I know my stuff about cars. But guys don't think automatically that the G will do for you what you can't do on your own

Hey now, while I'm glad you have some sort of values, let's be real - some girls don't. And those are the ones that will sleep with you because of what kinda car you drive.... Ahh, those were the days in college.

Sorry to get off topic. :-)
