Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

I had one, but it would cause my car to stall after rapid acceleration. As soon as the OEM filter went back in, the problem went away. Maybe my K&N was over oiled from the factory.

Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

An aquaintance of mine had one installed in his Q45. Right after the install, his car backfired and ran rough. I believe it was corrected over time. I am a believer of, if it's not broken, don't fix it. Therefore , no K&N for me.

Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

I have the Unlimited Tuning drop-in and it's GREAT... there is a noticable difference between even the K&N and the UT. I loved the K&N ans didn't have a single problem with it. I say go for it.

Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

it seems to suck in alot more air than the K&N because it doesn't have any filiment, just an extremely tightly woven stainless steel mesh. Hard to explain but it's really sweet.

Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

Sound like an expensive item tho? How much and how does steel mesh keep the intake air cleaner than a filiment with oil? Also I have the Z tube so I may not be interested in more noise - just better noise....very compelling item nevertheless

Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

Who sells those stainless steel filters? How much $$$$? I've never heard of them before.

Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

The intake from Blitz is also stainless steel. I would think think twice before installing though, the stainless steel filters are extremely high flow filters and how well they function as a filter for daily commuting is somewhat questionable.

Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

The sound of a Drop in is not gonna be any different than stock, this is because you still have the resonators of the stock intake. Changing out the stock intake tube to a 350Z tube will definately create an "intake sound." I've had my drop in for about a year now, damn that reminds me to check up on that thing, i haven't cleaned it yet!

Re: K&N Drop-In Air Filter

The ECU will compensate in seconds, and the car will then instantly thereafter run better. I put the K&N drop-in, then Ztube, then 5wire Grounding Gear kit, one at a time. Tried the ECU reset thing. And a JWT Pop later, but I took it off and went back to the K&N w/stock airbox cause I like the sound better.
I think the single best thing I did was the drop-in. Burbly sputter on rev-fall immediately disappeared, replaced with a very clean, well tuned note. Highly recommend the K&N. And as per the directions, you needn't clean it too often. Promise you'll be happy in making this change.
