Custom Exhaust- anyone done this?

Has anyone done custom piping on a g35 with the stock muffler? The reason i ask because a friend and I came up with a pretty neat set up for a custom exhaust. It was getting a Magnaflow High Flow Catalytic Converter then running 3in piping from there to the Stock Muffler ( Delete Resonator ). Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Nissan installed 2.5" piping in our Infinitis for a reason, unless you're adding FI that's all you need. Want a better sound, begin by replacing the OE cats since that's where the restriction is. BERK'S HFCs sound great and they'll pass any sniffer (smog) test.

+1, except go with ART pipes, although they are test pipes the HP and TQ increases are worth it imo.

Anything after 2.5 max I would say 2.75 after that it would be an overkill for sure, you will lose power unless you have FI. Like Gary said if you want to keep you stock muffler just go with some good HFC and you will be happy.

Can you run a test pipe on our cars without throwing a CEL?

Are you guys using extenders or the faux single generator? I ask because neither work on the Porsches. Tried everything under the sun, finally had to pay someone to give me the hex and just reprogramed the ECU to ignore the parameters.

Thanks for all the feed back! Ill keep this all in mind and probably end up going with a HFC to start at least.
