Re: I locked my keys in the trunk!!

If you locked all your keys in the trunk, how did you go to the dealer and show them the registration? (Which should be kept in the car)

Where in the manual does it talk about this red strap? I'm at work, so I just looked at the pdf version of the 04 owners manual, and went to the accessing the trunk section, and it doesn't mention anything about a pull strap? One would wonder, that if there is a pull strap, what's the point of locking the trunk release button? Maybe it's because the trunk is so small, you wouldn't have very much stuff to steal? Re: I locked my keys in the trunk!!

u only keep the copy of registration in car..
the real one u keep at home or...somewhere else

anyway...so the dealer has a copy of ur car's key???
i don't understand how they cut u a new key?
so they can just go to drive our car off..if they know where we live?

For the '03 Coupe, the explanation is in 'Predriving checks and adjustments' on page 3-13.

Re: I locked my keys in the trunk!!

the dealer doesnt have them on file. they can get the cuts of your key from the vin number. so they just cut a new key. each key has certain depths that make it up. if they can get the cuts they can make a key. not a hard thing to do

+1 for this post! Thanks for saving my ***! AAA opened my car door but said they'd have to call a locksmith at 100+ per hour or id need the key! So glad I didn't have to do all that!

if the keys are in the car wouldn't the key fob be close enough to just push the button on the handle?

idk bout u guys but my coupe has a button on top of the rear seats as well as the red thing underneath them. and you can go anywhere to get a key done for your door locks! i got one for liek $3 I keep behind my drivers license and im in Cali... so it shouldnt be to much more expensive for you guys. sure it wont start the car, but when i locked the chipped key inside the car i can get in pretty easily! I also got a couple more key remotes offa ebay, easy to program and nice to have. i leave one at my place, one at the parents palce and one at the fiancee's place.

Never leave your registration in your car.. Keep it in your wallet with your license.
