what known problems do G35 Coupes have?
Re: what known problems do G35 Coupes have?
I'd say that Infiniti is on a downward spiral as far as build quality is concerned...Nissan has been near the bottom for quite some time now.

The American-made Nissans have had their problems, but I'd have to disagree on the build quality of the G which is made in Japan. I think it is very well built and easily compares to any other $35K vehicle out there.

is there a fix for the squeaky brakes?
and issues i have are the tranny clunking into gear from drive to reverse. and a driver door that seems to sound like plastic rubbing.

2004 5AT coupe, 10k miles and not a single problem. The passenger side seatbelt will flap back and forth on really bumpy roads, but it so rare it doesn't bother me.

Transmission Problem
My G35 had a service engine soon light come on. I did what the service manual said for the light (opening and closing the gas tank)and eventually it went away. Then while I was driving the car seemed to just drop out of gear. I had to take my foot off the accelerator and let the revs drop before it would engage again. I took it to the dealer and they have had it for over a week now. They finally decided they had to replace the transmission. The car only has 31K miles on it. Very scary!
My G35 is an 2003 and I have almost 14k on it now. Here are the problems I've had with it so far:
1 - Rattles all over the place. I have at least 4 interior rattles currently, after 3 were fixed by dealers (once they fix one, another pops up some where else - its a losing battle). I also have an exterior rattle when I first accelerate (sounds like a loose heat shield somewhere under the car).
2 - Moonroof rails in the roof make a popping sound when you turn in or out of a driveway (sounds like an acorn dropping on the roof).
3 - Brembo brakes sometimes squeek loudly when not under braking (just driving)
4 - Clutch chatters off the line - feels almost like a warped flywheel, but its not - I think the clutch material is too "grabby". The car has done this since new.
5 - CD player broke - wouldn't play any CD's, and wouldn't change or eject any CD's. Dealer replaced with new unit. Reminds me - I need to call the dealer about my CD's that were in the broken one.
6 - Navigation system would freeze up sometimes when it was hot out. Dealer updated the firmware, and it seemed to fix the problem.
7 - Moonroof seal creaks and groans over bumps and while turning in and out of driveways, unless I keep lubricating it with silicone lube.
8 - Paint is very soft and chips ridiculously easily. The front of my car looks like it has 140k miles on it, not 14k miles.
9 - Gas mileage is pretty poor, but I really don't care.
Despite all these minor complaints, I still love the car. The car drives so nicely, and looks so ****** good, that its easy to overlook its problems/shortcomings. As long as you're a driver and not a nit-picker, I highly recommend this car.

Mine just started doing this the last 2 weeks or so. Glad to hear its not just me. It sounds like its skipping but the CDs are brand new. I guess I'll have to call the dealership on Monday
