New exhaust

Whats up guys
I'm getting a new exhaust for my 06 coupe.
The only mod i have right now is an injen CAI.
From what I've seen on youtube, I'm leaning towards the injen super ses. Do you guys know how loud this exhaust really is and how bad the drone is? If this exhaust isn't for me I'll probly go with the invidia gemini true dual full cat or bassani xhaust.

Welcome to DRIVER Mac....!

You can spend a lot of $$ on exhaust systems and gain nothing but loud noise. The major restriction in your OE exhaust system is the cats! Replace them with HFCs like BERK'S and gain 8 RWHP and you'll have gained something other than noise all for a cost less than $500....and you'll be legal!

Thanks for the reply.
At this stage I'm not too concerned with power and NJ only tests emissions now so I don't have to worry about noise too much. I like the stock sound but I'm looking for something more aggressive. HFC's are definitely do-able but I would probably only put it on if I get an exhaust. I'm only 17 so w/e I do is coming out of my pocket and I need something with low drone levels so my mom will shut up when I'm cruising.
I'm also putting in a MD 5/16" spacer and MREV2.
The exhausts I'd buy would be a FI, fujitsubo, bassani, injen, or motordyne. I have never heard these exhausts in person and don't know what their real capabilities are.

Thanks

By "low drone levels", do you mean you actually want drone, or no?

The exhaust video I posted in this thread of my, and Jayk's, car's is really close to how it sounds in person. We both have different MotorDyne exhaust configurations.

Also, do you have a 6MT, or 5AT?

I have the Bassani with F.I. hi-flow cats and I absolutely love it. No drone at all but, its sounds crazy deep. You can hear it coming pretty far away. I'd suggest a spacer and a Stillen intake while you're at it.

Hummmm..... HFC are not legal in California. If you don't want a loud exhaust, go w/ Fast Intention. That is a nice exhaust.

Sadly I've got a 5AT. I wasn't the one payin for the car so there was some pull and tug with what I could get.
I woul prefer as close to drone levels as stock, which is pretty much nothing, but I want an aggressive exhaust that u can hear 3 blocks in front of me with WOT.
Yea I've seen Jayk's car before; it's mad nice. How is the drone on the motordyne exhausts?

I already have an injen CAI. I love it wouldn't trade it for the world. It's pretty loud.
Do u have 5AT? I know auto sucks with drone.
What exhaust would u say the bassani is closest to, comparatively?

Na, I have a 6 spd. Saw you had an injen CAI after I posted, my bad.
I've only heard the Stillen exhaust, which sounds very close to stock, sorry haven't heard others. It's just loud with all the other breather mods I have on but not annoying.

Hey now, 5AT's aren't that bad (I have one myself). The reason I asked is because you said you were planning on getting the MREV2, which produces very minimal gains for us 5AT's. I would know, I have an MREV2 on my G. All you'll want is the iso-thermal spacer, and leave the MREV2 to the 6MT guys.

Judging by your description, the Motordyne Shockwave V2 is perfect for you. It's one of the loudest exhausts for our cars (in a good way), and the Hemholtz resonators attached to the axle back of the V2 are designed to greatly reduce, if not eliminate rasp and drone. Add the Motordyne ART pipes, and they'll reduce rasp/drone even further. However, these are definitely not cheap parts, so start saving them pennies.

I, myself, have the Shockwave V2 TDX w/ART pipes.

Yea I've got a friend with the 07 sedan with a stillen exhaust. I'm not sold on it, but the coupe and sedan are completely different systems (At least it is for Borla not sure about stillen). Would you mind making a vid of the bassani? I know a lot of people are dying to hear it and I couldn't find a video of a G with a bassani exhaust anywhere on the Internet. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the info. I won't get the mrev2 then. I'll probably use the money I'd save on that and go for a transgo valve body upgrade but I know the installation is a b*tch. On a scale of 1 to 10, a 5 being stock G exhaust, what would you rate the shockwave V2. I'd like to get a motordyne, I've heard nothing but good things about Tony and the guys there but is there any way to get motordyne products cheaper? It will take me a long time to get $2k for the exhaust and ART pipes.
I'd much rather the shockwave V2 to the HKS Hi power. I'm not a huge fan of the HKS.

Excellent choice, I love my transgo. If stock is a 5, I'd say the Shockwave is a 9 or 10. The catback is all straight pipes. You can try getting some quotes from the vendors in our marketplace and see if they're cheaper. You can also keep a lookout for a used system, but honestly, I can't remember the last time I saw a used Motordyne exhaust for sale.

I'm gonna love this exhaust but I'll most likely have to wait till July or august to get it. I cannot stand the stock 5AT transmission. It is so slow, even in tiptronic. When I'm accelerating hard in regular drive, I have to wait a good 2-3 seconds to get going when it freezes at around 3k for a while. Another issue is that I am not sure how long I will have this car. Depending on where I go to college, I may be forced to ditch RWD cars and get a g37x coupe (not my choice, my parents will make me get rid of the g35). But I'm sure I could get most of my money out of the parts when I sell them used and I'll keep the stock exhaust.
How much faster can you shift w/ the transgo upgrade? Did you have any complications with the install or in daily driving?
