How necessary is a tune?

If Joe is smart enough to go with the BERK'S HFCs their extensions are built in, so I found out.
I had all my previous mods and didn't throw our favorite "Check Engine Soon" error code until I installed my BERK'S which made me run lean. Getting a Osiris tune and picking up another 24 RWHP and 12.5 LBS of torque was worth the cost of the tune + the error code is no longer showing up. Finish doing your mods and then get a tune!

Whats your take on the MD ART pipes? Why pick the Berk HFC's over the ART pipes? Other than the fact that berk hfc's have the built in extensions and because they're legal in VA. I'm hoping to get a throaty/growl sound from my exhaust and more power ofcourse, which do you think will help?
And thanks for the input everyone, I'll hold off on the tune for a while until I'm done modding. Although, I don't really know what other performance mods I would do? Since my G is my daily driver, I probably won't get headers esp since they cost way too much and too little gains for the buck, and I deff wont be turbo/supercharging my car either. I think I'm done w performance mods after the cats/test pipes but I will hold off just in case anything else comes up...

the problem is that lots or most or all cars come from the factory tuned rich.. to accommodate a large production of engines which arent all created equal and will exhibit some small differences despite being built the same, manufacturers have to develop a map thats going to work safely in all engines... If manufacturers sat there and tuned each car specifically, we'd never get our cars :P..
by safely leaning out the rich mixture, you create more horsepower and are able to tailor all the parameters specific to that engine thus making it more efficient and "clean"
Don't confuse hp with bad gas mileage. adding more fuel to the mix doesnt always increase power and can consequently decrease hp..
