race acura tl-s: how to?
my buddy wants showdown.. but has acura tl-s with new programable module, headers, air induction, and all the trick parts. He dynos at 300 hp by calculation. BUT he is front wheel drive. How shoultd this be done with my automatic?
Power brake and build rpm? What rpm to launch? vdc off?

What kind of air induction did he put in? Supercharger or Turbo?
Just take him to some canyon twisties, all those mods he put on shouldn't matter there. It comes down to the driver in the twisties.
Oh ya you didn't say what kind of showdown. Challenge him to a drifting and donut showdown [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img].

I'm sorry, he has AEM (?) cold air intake.
Your match is your basic stop-light to 60...in a legal fashion of course.!
I guess with the mucho bucks he spent on car, he should walk by, but it could be interesting. At least I will look better at the start!

my CLS just got stolen 3 weeks ago. that s how i got this G35C 6spd..... CLS and TLS r basically the same thing. If he really dynoed at 300 HP to the wheel and ur G is automatic. Then i am sorry , i personally think ur gonna lose =(
My CLS has AEM pulley Greddy evo exhasuts, OBX SS header, AEM CAI, light weight rims and etc could beat a slightly modded WRX....but i dont know.. i dont know how the hell he can have 300 to the wheel. Even with the Comptech S/C he still cant get 300 to the wheel.... um....

I need remedial writing classes...it's this keyboarding at work in a hurry...kind of a stream of thought process .
He CALCULATES he is getting 300 hp at flywheel from his dyno readings with a % loss through the auto tranny
So i think he cannot assume he is that much quicker, eh?

I thought getting "walked" meant the other car beat you without much fuss or without even trying. How can he get walked and it still be close.
The tl has about 200lbs more weight, so I think its all about the driver.

Does he have an auto or 6 speed? If he has an auto, sometimes those mods work AGAINST you and your car's natural torque curve. An Auto tranny needs more power throughout the rev range than a manual car, which is happier in a narrower rev range at the top. Those headers and [censored] usually maximize that upper range, so its something to take into consideration. I also strongly doubt that he's running 300 HP with those mods you're talking about. He'd need forced induction to get that much more out of the engine.

In that case, it'll be a good race! I drove a CL-S auto while shopping for the G as well as a G auto and the G auto was quicker without a doubt.
