About to purchase a car that will possibly need new brakes in next couple thousand miles. Anyone know what that runs at a standard mechanic? Any input will help. :0 Thanks

saying "new brakes" is very general. Are you referring to pads? pads and rotors? new calipers?

they are about $60/pair for OEM pads on www.infinitipartsusa.com. That is the cheapest place I found them. I recently placed an order, but then they emailed me saying that the front pads are on a undefined backorder due to the earthquake in China.

Does anyone know a good (cheap) place to get front OEM brake pads for a 2006 coupe?

I'd get a dealer quote and have that amount deducted from the purchase price.

I recently went to local mechanic to do my brakes and got quoted $250 to do the front and rear brakes with ceramic pads and resurface the disc.Hope that answer your question but u can do them yourself buying ceramic pads at a local auto parts which would probably be like $100 for the best they have (ceramic) both for front and back and to resurface the disc would probably be like $8 each ( at least that how much it is near the shops i live) so it would be like $132 if you DIY ^^.

Welcome to DRIVER Josh....!

Josh, don't consider the dealership unless you have extreemly deep pockets! Find an independent brake/alignment shop in your area to install, you can order pads/rotors here on our MARKETPLACE under vendor brakes. Fast delivery and quality parts....you'll have lot of choices. I would deduct the cost of a brake job from the purchase price (+ or -) $400....Good Luck!
