Mysterious rear noise
hey, I was wondering if anyone has the same rear noise as my G35 does or has an idea of what it could be. It's a metal clanking noise whenever I go over bumps which can be clearly heard by me and others around me!
It really sounds like thin metal hitting something. Whenever i go over expansion joints, it's only when the rear wheel that goes over it i hear it so that's how I know it's from the rear.
So far, I checked the center and rear exhaust sheilds, those are fine. The cats have been replaced. The catback exhaust has been replaced. Rear sway was removed and that annoying clanking is still there!! So I dont know what to check next!
I also removed stuff out of the trunk....thought it could have been something bouncing around back there but guess not...
Any advice or help is much appreciated!

It ended up being the rear parking brakes. At the bottom of the assembly behind the rotor, there's a piece of metal that got loose. Who would have thought that little piece of metal would be so loud lol.
To test if it's the same noise on ur car, pull (or press) the parking brake just before it clicks while driving around at idle speed. If the noise goes away. You found the problem!
Hope this helps some. It's the known problem for the FX's.
