*laughs* DUDE.. I can call a PDK transmission an automatic all day long. I'm well aware of the differences between an AT a MT and a Boxster PDK, and I'm not arguing that your grasp of the system is wrong . I'm saying, I don't care how it automates the clutch, just that it does simply that.. AUTOMATES the clutch.

Ok, I'll give you that. If you RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENCE I don't care what you call it.

But to think that a DCT and a simple torque converter AT are the same is the problem, and too many people do...

 

No, no.. I totally agree with your info. I know that a standard AT and a PDK do not function the same.

I say we are both right, we just have to relax.

 

My whole point is that if we don't blatantly spell it out you'll have some magazine racer run in here, read that "they are the same" and run around and start flame wars with false information.

Just like the guys that say "well the AT has more torque so it turns out to be about the same" and some other un-knowing person reads that and posts that up in a different thread and boom goes another flame fest...

 

I have not heard one company touting a pdk tranny as a manual

 

It's funny how this same age old debate always runs down the same path. For a minute, I wondered if the OP was bored one day and just planted the seed lol. At least this time it only got to 7 pages lol.

 

^ OP's just being a newb. He started 25+ threads in the 6 weeks he's been registered. That's roughly 5 threads a week.

 

The best part is, 23 of his 25 threads could have been solved with a search.

I've been on this earth a long time compared to 99% of the members here and I can testify with absolute confidence that a VERY LARGE portion of manual drivers aren't nearly as fast as they think they are.

Go look at the track numbers and you'll realize they're very close - you make it sound like the 6MT walks the 5AT all day and the facts prove otherwise.

I'm out of this thread except for the comedy. This $hit never ends. Been this way since '03.

My clutch is defective. It only lasted 10,000 miles and the dealer won't cover it under warranty.
