07 6mt coupe transmission acting funny...

Ok so i was driving on the highway the other day and i noticed that say im driving around 60 mph and give it some gas i notice the rpms will raise around 300 to 500 rpms and then drop back down even if i keep on the gas, its like the clutch slips a lil but then grips. it doesnt slip when i accelerate in first gear zero to almost the redline or when i accelerate rapidly in second gear. its only when i have been crusing in gear and give it some gas it can be almost any gear crusing i have noticed it in gears 3-6. its strange i dont know if i never noticed it or if its a new problem, i hope i dont need a new clutch...i havent been driving the car extra hard...i dont race and i dont have any engine mods or anything. the car has around 43000 miles or so and from what im hearing the clutch should be expected to last 60000+ miles in this vehicle. i have been driving stick for years and i dont think its how i drive the car i generally keep it low rpm when accelerating from a stop light etc. i have probably only dropped the clutch once back like 15000 miles ago. Has anyone else noticed this? or does it sound like i have an issue. i know my car still has a drivetran warranty but i dont know how much that will cover regarding the trans

damn, i guess living in a city for 4 years killed it. i went to school at wvu and its all hills there etc, just graduated. If im currently in a generally flat suburban area and im real easy on it how many miles do you think im looking at before i need to bring it in and how much do you think it will cost to have it replaced with a decent or oem clutch at a shop? sorry for all the questions but i have never had tranny problems before haha. thanks guys. living in south jersey right now if anyone was wondering

It's just going to get worse, especially if it slips. If you are very gently with the gas and prevent it from slipping and drive mostly highway you can probably get thousands of miles out of it.

However, since most of us don't own a G35 to drive it like that, you should look into replacement options now. By the time you find what you want it'll probably be totally toast.

As others have indicated, your clutch is just begining to slip. You may get a few thousand more miles and you may get a couple hundred. My advice would be to replace it. Nothing worse than being stranded.

Good advice up there about not going OEM. There are good aftermarket clutches for our cars.

grazsroots...you coming down to Tampa in December for the USF/WVU game? They've been good games the last few years. GO BULLS!

I think it's December 1st. You Mountaineers usually represent well in Tampa. Should be a good game.

+1 ^^^ youll know when it gets bad but you should shop around now. Def go with aftermarket clutch, but if your not into modding that much keep oem flywheel to avoid chatter

I have an 06 & those were the early signs of a clutch slip. Only showed signs when shifting into 3rd&up. Mine only lasted me about 800miles till it fully went out. I was lucky enough my clutch went out when I was arriving to my mechanic

Like someone stated below go with the OEM flywheel keeps the chatter noise down compared to a light aftermarket flywheel.
