Flyinb501's Intro Thread

Hey guys, been here for about a year and a half so I figure I'd finally do an intro. I picked up my G about a year ago, and finally have it looking like I wanted.

I've gotten a lot of good info on here so thank you to every one who contributes!

2005 Coupe, 6MT. So far... Fast Intentions HFC's, 350Z Y pipe, Z tube + K & N, MREV2, clear side markers, 20/25 mm spacers, USA Spec Ipod integration, DIY black out grille, Tein 350Z S Tech springs, SPC front and rear camber kits.

I just finished clay barring, polishing, and waxing so I'll post some pics.

My last 2 cars:

2000 Audi A4 1.8T

When I bought it:

After lot's of mods:

2002 Audi A4 1.8T:

This one was a little quicker. It had a k04 turbo and all supporting mods.

When I bought it:

After lot's of mods:

Beautiful OB coupe! Very nice and super clean, debadging the trunklid would even make it more so. You added MREV2 did you also include the 5/16" spacer too? Thanks for sharing....

Thanks Gary. I didn't add a spacer. I read mixed reviews about the spacer and the rev up motor so I just went with the MREV2. Maybe I will still add a spacer though...

The car is definitely quicker now with the HFCs and MREV2. It sounds great too! I wouldn't mind it even a little louder. Maybe I'll go with a full exhaust in the future, but I'm taking a little break now after the suspension install and detail.

Nice looking car man. I assume you were part of the MNAudi Crew? What was you screen name over there? I'm also a former B5/B6 A4 driver (B5 for life!).

Where are you located in MN?

Thanks. I wasn't really an active member. I posted a few times. Same screen name. I was more active with the local crew when I lived in AZ for college.

How do you like your G coming from the Audis?

The G35 is definitely nice. It certainly doesn't have the class of an Audi, nor the wonderful interior. Plus I miss AWD in winter (passing 4WD trucks in a blizzard is awesome). But RWD + a lot less under steer + more stock power = More than happy.

I jumped cars every 2 years previously, but I think I'll be sticking with the G35 for a while.

I agree. Some things about my Audi that I miss are the interior, and the clutch/ shifter. I hate the clutch on this car, and I think I will eventually install a short shifter. I also hate the seat belt.

More stock power is great, and I love RWD. I have a truck that I drive in the winter when it snows. I also love the looks of the coupe, and it sounds great. All in all I'm pretty happy with the car, and I'll probably keep it for at least another year. I think for the money it was definitely the best choice for me.

just wondering, on your usa spec, where did you ground that wire behind the headunit? I can not find a place to ground at all! Thanks!

Nice starting mods btw!

Looks good. If you were to get a full exhaust I would also get a spacer and a tune. Did you see any gain with the 350z y-pipe or is it just for sound?

w4kj4k, I don't really remember, but I think I grounded to a random screw on the back of the HU.

walshtj, I installed the Y pipe at the same time as the HFC's. I did notice a power gain, but I don't know how much of it can be attributed to the y pipe.
