Another oil consumption question

Sorry if this has been asked before, I've searched for a few hours. I suspect I have the consumption problem and no longer have warranty, what is the approx cost to fix and if not fixed what is the downside of just topping up?
Thanx

OC is caused by poor quality rings, if that's what you have going on it won't get better eventually you'll just blow your engine. You could trade it in on a newer year or order a new short block and have your heads freshened which is what I'd do. You'll need to find a qualified Nissan mechanic to do the swap and a machine shop to freshen your heads but stay away from our stealerships.

I'd begin by checking www.infinitiparts.com that should give you a "Ballpark" idea of what it might cost for the shortblock.

Yesterday, I was not in a mood to do much typing or explaining.

My recommendation to you is LIVE WITH IT. Infiniti is not here to help you out with your issue even when you have a warranty. PLease step into the DFW forum and look at the recent talks about OC. We have members who have gotten short blocks from Nissan under warranty and 6 months later are still burning oil. HMMM lets see that shortblock cost $5k with install and no changes at all in oil consumption. We have members who have gotten a long block 2 yrs ago and still consuming oil and that cost 10k. Hey boi....how deep are your pockets.

If you want to do it right RUN AWAY FROM INFINITI. Never trust the dealers or the corporate service center. THEY ARE HERE FOR SHAREHOLDERS NOT FOR ENTHUSIASTS. THey are thinking about feeding their own families not fixing your oil burning vehicle.

If you have $5,000 to blow and want to fix your oil consumption issue than build a new shortblock with aftermarket piston/ piston rings and overbore the block to fit the new pistons and piston rings. While you are at it you could do new valve guide seals and what ever you feel like doing. Lulz....infiniti wanting you to spend money to fix there F***CKUP since they could not design a decent engine. BULLETPROOF MY A********** ...more like barely lasts till powertrain warranty is up and then GTFO.

Why don't you call a local dealership and a local garage and compare prices?
