My Boss wants to race me in his CTS...

Peoples,

My boss just got a brand new CTS 3.6, 6 speed, MT and is talking alot of s**t. He's pulling out all of these lines from the Cadillac forum talking about how the CTS can take out the G35.

Now I have a AT '04 G35 Coupe... and we found a red light last night. I took him pretty easily, but now he's talking about how he needs to open up the engine and he's practicing his shifting... etc.

I just needs some ammo (other than the mini race that he was "unprepared" for) to combat that Cadillac stuff.

Thanks

Jae

Lol..my mother in law just picked up an '05 CTS. Not sure about racing, but I'd look pretty silly burning up the streets with a 68 yr old lady.
The numbers are impressive as are the numbers for most cars in the G's class. I wouldn't bother with a race, just point out to your boss the age demographic in driving a Cadillac.

Point him to consumer reports and let him read about the reliability of the caddy,
After he breaks down on the side of the freeway, /wave to him as you drive past.
Nice car, just not reliable at all.

+1. Just race again. But don't beat him too bad, or he might get mad.. He is your boss and all.

He's your boss. Don't race him again. Point out that he has an employee that values the reliability, performance, and economics of his car. One day when you're OLD and can pay to have it fixed all the time, you'll buy a Caddy. But until then, you'll have to settle for your coupe, which belongs to the "less holier" crowd.

i think he misread when he bought the car. my friend has the cadillac CTS-V which is around 400 horses. he just got an exhaust and it sounds like a friggin monster. the typical "American Muscle" sound from his car. now THAT car can rip mine. i haven't tried it but 400 horses sounds good enough.
the stock CTS i know nothing about.
i tried driving the 6speed cts-v, it feels too smooth shifting compared to our notchy car. my friend drove my g and said he liked the notchy. i think i do too.

Yeah, I almost bought the 3.6 CTS. On paper it semi-fast, but it didn't feel like it... Probably because of the quietness, and the smoothness of the tranny. (I always liked GM trannies.) I just couldn't get over it's "interesting" styling.

But anyways, the CTS 3.6 5AT is supposed to be 6.2 0-60 which is slower than the G35. But yes, the CTS-V will rip us a new one. I think it's something like 4.7 - 4.9 0-60.

The one thing I loved about the CTS that I wish our G would do though, is that the stock Navi will play DVD movies. I also wish others besides GM would do a heads-up-display. It would be AWESOME if we had a navi that tied into the heads-up-display, like the one in the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP:

The politically correct thing to do is to not race him and tell him that he probably would win. Otherwise, you boss may get pissed from losing and make your life at work difficult.

LOL I'm glad my boss doesn't ask me to race. I'd hate to be humiliated when he rips me a new one in his Lotus Esprit V8 TT.

I agree, well what kind of job is this, i mean if this is ur boss at a bagel shop who cares ahha, but if its a major business then i say dont do it, i dunno thought, i take it offensive when peopell talk shi! no matter who and have to prove them wrong, do what you feel! That Nav ont he heads up is hot, but i def. wouldnt want that in a G35

LOL.. My boss asks me to race all the time, ever since I got the G. He has a heavily modified Supra, that dynoed at 725hp at the wheels. I told him if he donates his old twin turbos to me, I'd think about racing him
