Given a g35
My grand mother gave me her 05 g35... It has about 5k miles on it and it's a at. I'm interested in a 6mt I need advice, convert it? Sell it? Trade it in for a g37? I would like to keep it but I know down the road, it being an auto will be the reason I would get rid of it.
Wowwww.... Lucky you!
If you want a 6MT, get a 6MT. I know the feeling of owning an AT when you're dying for a MT, and it's not worth just settling. Get what you want if you have the resources.
I'm not too familiar with tranny swaps (from AT to MT) but it just might be worth doing if you have the funds since your car is so new and you're guaranteed not to find anything even close to that for a reasonable price. I remember reading about someone who did it here (gonna need to search for it) so maybe you can get a hold of him and ask how it went. It's probably a lot easier just to sell your car and buy a 6MT, but with 5k miles, I would be pretty hesitant.
The only downside to having such low mileage is it hasn't really been broken in too much and anything that goes wrong will have to be covered out of pocket since the factory warranty is out (unless you have the extended). That's also something to consider.
Either way, you're damn lucky. Haha.

Yup sell it privately, be patient, get what you want from a private seller, also be patient.
For reference, I bought my 06 fully loaded excellent condition 6mt 37k miles for 18,5.

+1 on sell for 6MT, with mileage that low you'll make money off the deal if you go for a 06-07 G35 6MT. Not a G37 fan personally, but sell the AT and go shopping.
And congrats, a lil bit jealous over here lol.

Tranny swap is going to cost way too much in labor to justify. Just list it, but out of respect I would ask your grandma if she was cool with you selling it. Then decide whether you like the G35 or G37 better. You could even buy a higher mileage 6MT and spend the rest on upgrades (turbo / body kit), which would be worth it in my opinion if you live in a state where cops won't hassle you and you can have a unique car depending on the mods you do (for free).
I've never seen a G37 go for around 20... are you saying he should put cash on top?
I'd keep it I'm sick of stick its over rated but think of this u know the car Is in perfect condition why would you sell a perfect car for someone elses head ache and start making payments (assuming you have none) be greatful keep the car and just go with it.
I live in NJ but drive a lot in the city and MT are a PIA to me. So I choose an AT if your gonna race with it then MT is the way to go but I can't really see that being the reason so getting rid of a car with 1 Oil change that's barely broken in. Only reason I would sell is to put $20k down on a new house
