getting a g35, what should I look for?

since i'm new to the G35 game, what should I look for in these cars? I'm looking for a 2003-2007 G35 4 door sedan. Like problem areas, things to watch out for etc? What is a g35x btw too?ALso do any of u guys actually use the stick mode on the auto-stick? I used one on a little kia rental car once and it was pretty fun. It's probably a lot more fun with a car with G35 power

Coupe section violation....=oP

Sorry, we don't answer questions from sedan pilots! Why would you want two extra doors anyway, they look like granny cars? (with the exception of a few on DRIVER)

I just bought a 2005 G35 coupe auto.

I was told to check for normal car stuff like making sure shocks are in good shape, fluids are full, oil looks okay.

the rev-up (298hp) engines that are in the 2005+ manual G35s i believe sometimes have issues with burning/eating oil? i'm not sure if this is just for coupes or also for sedans that are manual transmission.

also i hear the stock bose radio sometimes goes bad and needs to be replaced

G35X = sedan that is all wheel drive. G35x only comes in automatic.

i have the G35 coupe in automatic and yes, i use the manumatic (or whatever it's called) mode sometimes when I'm driving. I drove stick before.. stick is more fun.. but my wife cant drive stick and there's lots of rush hour traffic in my area.. so automatic was a better option for us. but the manual mode of the automatic is still kind of fun too. just shifts slower than a true manual car

lol, how dare u! Yeah some of us have kids and have to have 4 door cars to make life easier. I have 97 NIssan Maxima right now and used to own a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with over 300hp that was suped up, so i'm all about 4 door cars with power!

Turns the front wheels all the way to the left or right and see if the bottom bushing on the lower a-arms are shot. also if you can drive it around, listen for front or rear end clunking when going over bumps especially sideways.

This.
Other common things are compression rod bushings, annoying ticking sound from the window when rolled up all the way (there is a DIY on replacing the bolts for the window motor on here(the culprit)).
If you find one with reclining rear seats, thats nice. My daughter and her friends like to recline them, and it makes adjusting my rear shocks a breeze.
The only problems I've had are the Bose radio, compression rod bushings and the window tick.

lol that's what you get for posting sedan questions on the coupe forum
Take it to a local mechanic and have it inspected. If you are driving far and don't know the area then take it to the local infiniti dealer, they can pull the service records. It costs about 150 for a pre-buy inspection.

Another thing that got me when I got mine was not going through a car wash - I found my windshield was not sealed properly and dumping water into the car, and because I didn't catch it before the sale was complete, I had to pay to fix it. If you drive it through a car wash, look all around for wet spots inside and the trunk.

Also check the frame underneath for frame machine marks, the dealer should do that.

If they won't let you do any of that, run!!
