Is it worth powder coating my wheels right before winter?
Is it worth powder coating my wheels right before winter? (UPDATE: Hell ya it was :D)
I have to buy new tires next summer so I'm just planning on upgrading to 20's and buying some nice wheels with them. But I'm debating on powder coating my current stock 18's black that are gonna run with my winter tires. Chicago gets real dirty from the salt and sleet during the winter, so I don't know how much damage that can do to powder coated wheels. I dunno I really like the gloss black look for my OB coupe, but at the same time I know I'm gonna buy wheels next spring so I'm not sure if its worth it or not.

Are you keeping your current wheels for a winter set-up?
If not then I wouldn't waste the money getting them PC'd. If you are keeping them then go for it. Poweder coating is more durable than painting so they should be fine.

Try 'Plasidipping' them. I just recently upgraded my stock 18's and had them just laying around...I plastidipped them and it only cost like $30...I can redo them whenever I want. All it takes is a little time and $5 can of Plastidip

If Gary says do it then I definitely will!
lol. Thanks for the suggestions guys, and yes I'm gonna keep those as my winter wheels because I don't want the wheels I'm buying next summer to ever see snow and salt.
And I just Googled Plasti Dip..ya ummm, no.

Ryda, powder coated wheels are almost indestructible. What kinda
would suggest plastic dip wheels, that doesn't even work well on grilles!Gary
