I HAD a Z4 2.5 5-speed, non-sport package, and was quite happy with it, until I test-drove a G35 coupe. Ever since that, I wasn't satiesfied with my 2.5. It didn't push me back into the seat when I accelerated, and it didn't feel as sporty as the G35.

In the end, I didn't buy the G35 coupe. I ended up with a Z4 3.0 SMG w/sport package. But I would've never gotten the Z4 3.0 if I didn't test-drive the G35 and found out what I was missing with the 2.5.

If the choices are between the G35 coupe and Z4 2.5, then I'd get the G35 in a heart-beat. But if you somehow end up looking at the Z4 more seriously, you MUST get the sport-package. Without it, the Z4 feels wimpy. I bought my '04 Z4 3.0 with 10K off the MSRP. So if you look around some dealers that have left-over '04 Z4's, you might be able to get a well-packaged 3.0 for slightly below 40K. Hope this helps.

thanks...decision made!

thanks guys for all your input.
i went ahead and went to another dealership and got in a real good test drive.
went back to the dealership...they offered me 2 K off the msrp. pretty good.
they had a ton of 04s in stock and were just trying to get them off the lot.
as the salesman was scrolling down the dealership website, i saw an 'online price'. the salesman quickly dismissed my question.
passport infiniti of alexandria has an entire internet department.

i walked out of the dealership, emailed the internet office and
agreed on the price they had. i got another 1300 off from their best offer.
now i have my dream car at 3300 off msrp...which is right around invoice

black/willow 04 6mt w/ premium

i'm still learning how to post up pics...hopefully its attached.

CONGRATS! Great choice! Great deal! '04 6MTs are where it's at! Looks great! Get some clear corners on your ride! Welcome to the G35 Coupe 6MT club! The thing about the G Coupe is that it's so sexy without "trying" to be. The Z4 looks like it is desperate to be sexy, with those diagonals on the side, etc., it is trying too hard to be noticed.

Tell the dealer to remove "Passport" from the trunklid (for free), and take pictures before so if they scratch it, you can get them to fix it.

People will get confused...."is it an infiniti g35 or a honda passport SUV?"

I'm in DC metro, and if I've known what you were up to sooner, I would've been so much more helpful. But congrats!

Here's what you could've had in regards to the Z4. Any 2004 Z4 3.0 for $12k off the sticker. No joke, becuase they're not selling at all, esp in winter. And by now, being a new year, you probably could get the extended 6 yr/100k mi warranty for free as well since it'll be a certified preowned vehicle even though it's still new. I almost walked out with one, but my wife didn't like it. It's located in www.bmwofarlington.com. I wanted the black one with SMG for for $36 ($48k - $12k).

Instead, I just placed an order for the '05 G35 coupe last night for invoice price. One of the locals matched the Grubbs website offer for the military special. No regrets, instead I'm looking forward to it.

Either way, congrats. I would've been happy either way because I love convertibles and I've always wanted a G35 coupe 6 spd. Too bad about "No more Brembos" thing.
