My car has around 1200 miles on it and my friends are telling me I should of got the car an oil change like 700 miles ago because its the first one, but my dad told me i shouldn't worry about it, what do you guys think? Thanks.

 

oil change at 500 miles? youre friends are idiots.

3500 miles is fine.. 3750 is infiniti scheduled.

i did mine at 3000. some people do it at 1500 cause they think the "metal shavings" from the engine needs to be flushed out. i never seen any shavings at all from 1000 to 3750 oil changes that i've done before. i wouldn't worry too much.

 

a Blackstone labs test showed G35 oil at the first 1200 looked like it had 3000 on it. Yeah, whatever.

Plenty of reason to change early. even tho some early wear is beneficial.

500 mile changes dont.. he's referring to the first change. There is alot of metal in the first drain. I changed at 1500, to Mobil DriveClean mineral oil. Its really a personal preference thing. There is nothing wrong with waiting til 3500 for the first drain. Your engine will still last longer than you probably want to keep the car. The early change is just precautionary thing. My wear reports dont look any better or worse than people who didnt change early.

 

I say go ahead and change your oil at 500 what could it hurt.
