Well it snowed for the first time in new york last nite.. Holy Crap the g is not a friend of the snow. There was olny like a 1/4 inch and my car was sliping and sliding all over the place. I heard people saying that it was bad in the snow but i had no idea it woluld be this bad....

 

With the stock Michelins on, the G is all but useless in the snow and cold.
Best move is to get some snows (all 'round).....you'll be glad you did.

 

If you have the Sport Wheel Package.....You need SNOW TIRES
I made the mistake last year thinking I could get around in the snow......until I slid into a curb and messed up my front 18" rim......

This year I put on Dunlop Winter Sport M3 tires w/17" rims......It should make my winter travel alot less stressful

 

Have to agree. If you live in an area that gets any amount of snow and generally cold weather, you need to change out your rubber for something with more grip.

I was actually glad it snowed last night so I could see how my new all-season package behaved on the snow/icy roads last night. The good news is I did not slide or spin once while driving home.

 

I've pretty much parked my car for the winter. I have Goodyear GS-D3's on it and below about 40* there is a noticable difference. I had ordered Dunlop Winter Sports at the same time I ordered the Eagles. The Dunlop's won't even be maufactured until Jan 1! So I won't get them until Feb. So the car is parked. Hurry up April!

I just bought an '04 Coupe 6mt as a daily driver, and with 4 18" Blizzask LM-22's had no issues whatsoever in what was a major Chicago snowstorm this weekend. Driving over little travelled suburban roads the plows had not hit yet, it tracked straight and did not give me one issue. I was driving quite conservatively (girlfriend in the car), but really, with a good set of winter rubber, it should be quite safe.

 

what me and my brother (325ci) do in jersey for the winter is go to home depot to get a few bags of sand and put them in the trunk. i put one 50lb bag over each wheel and one in the middle, the 150 extra lbs really keeps the car steady and going straight in the bad weather....then in the spring time - its gonna be soooo much lighter and feel sooo much faster. i recommend it to anyone in the NE or wherever it snows a lot..

 

I finally put some snows on my G and wow, from last winter where i drove my car prob twice i just took it out and usually it would take me 20 minutes to get up my driveway i got up in 30 seconds, its very steep but also my stock tires were burnt out last winter lol, that wasnt fun! The pilot sports are like riding on trouble, get some snows fast!

 

i had the pilots last winter here in nj....useless...this winter i now have blizzaks lm22s...drove last night and didn't slip a single time..

 

last night the roads that werent salted were like sheets of ice. luckily the lm-22s did a great job. theyr definitely worth it.

 

Woke up today and tried to decide what t-shirt to wear with what shorts...

Kinda wish it snowed more here in the mountains in So Cal...Can't board without snow...

 

My 18" wheels and tires track just fine during the winter. They should considering that it is 80 degrees outside here in good old Southern California. Gotta love it!!!!!!!

PS- Dont get me wrong, I have been to NYC in the winter and I loved it. A lot different then here in SoCal.

 

how much are you guys spending on getting the setup, is it best to keep a seperate set of rims for this purpose, or does it come out to be cheaper just changing the tire everytime on the same rim before putting them on?

please put the price and where you got it from, I want to get a setup for my G, It was pretty scary driving in snow in chicago in the G..

I used my father's X which worked really well in the snow. I mean it wasn't enough snow to test it as I wanted to but from what I drove in today and yesterday it worked out well. Hey does that sand thing really work in terms of stabilizing the ride?

i definitely think the sand helps out a lot. if you're the stuck in the snow or ice the rear wheels are just gonna keep spinning cause theres not much weight back there to keep it down on the ground. adding 150-180 lbs definitely puts some force onto the road and makes the wheels stay down and stabilize any spinouts more than the car does itself already.
