tinted taillights? helppp

Hi i was wondering if anyone could awnser my question. Ive been debating on tinting my taillights on my IP g35 coupe but im not wanting to do what is known to be "smoking out" your lights...that seems to be the most popular way ive seen taillights done but it seems too dark and ricey for me...instead i was thinking...(ive seen it done before but cant seem to find it) just blacking out the outside parts on the lights? not sure if it makes sense but something like that...instead of just smoking out the whole light...just the outside parts...if anyone knows what im talking about...or has pictures...that would help me out alot. Thanks all

You can get an overlay from Blue Batmobile
https://g35driver.com/forums/interio...neup-pics.html

There's also a tutorial around here somewhere...

There it is

I'm looking into tinting my tails on my IP coupe also. I'd personally stay away from completely tinting it for my concern of other drivers not seeing when I brake regardless of how light the tint is, the cutouts from Bluebat would be the way to go IMO. I just need a shop that can install it.

As far as visibility is concerned, I have no problem. I bought mine a few months back and the tails r already tinted. It's not a very dark tint, but they definately look dark next to an untinted one. When I put it in reverse at 5am I can see just fine, and my brake lights are plenty bright. If you dont go very dark it's not a big deal. I wish I could quote the % I got, but again, I didnt have it done. Looks sick, and if I get rear ended its not cause of the tint.

I lightly tinted my taillights. Just enough to make the red a deeper, darker color. I had them done at the shop that tinted my windows.

They didn't use tint. It was vinyl. Check out my car in "my garage".
