Hello all, new G35 Coupe owner, need some help diagnosing some problems

Hello fellow G35 community, my name is Matt and I am the proud new owner of an 03 laser red coupe. I need some help figuring out some issues this car has. The main issue which is my main concern is:

Nothing in the center dash works or comes on/off. The A/C, the heat, the defrost, ANY of those buttons. You can click them to no avail, for some reason the air is always on and cannot be shut off, none of the buttons are functioning. I was hoping maybe just some fuses are blown or something, but I was thinking maybe you guys have seen this problem before.

Next is there is no audio, the factory radio/cd/tape doesnt work. Common problem I know, I plan on replacing with a double din unit.

Last it seems my key fob is a little screwy. When I hit the button to lock the car it beeps, but it seems the switch inside the car is a little slow as it doesnt have enough power to fully clasp the lock. No really a biggie as I can just lock from inside, but Id really like for it to function.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I would really like my air and heat, and defront working!!!

I just bought this car last night so I have no had time to fully investigate yet!

The hvac controls are built into the radio so replacing that with a double din and the separate controls that come with it should fix both of those problems

Hey Matt, congrats on getting your G35 coupe. Did you notice these issues before you bought the car or after your purchased it? If the issues were found after the purchase, go talk to the guy or dealer you bought it from and ask about these issues. In regards to your center dash, did you check your fuse box? I'm thinking the individual you bought the car found might have had a DD already installed and when he was trying to sell it he prolly put back the stock system and didn't connect the ac controls correctly. Usually the factory radio/cd/tape player still works if the cds are stuck in the changer or it was installed improperly. I think your key fob is fine, the door actuator is prolly going out, that's why the door lock is a lil slow to lock. Look up the DIY to remove your oem Bose stereo and recheck the connections in the back of the system, check your fuses also. I can't think of anything else. Let us know what you find.

I got the same problem I figured it out in 2 days. On my situation it was the oe Ipod jack I disconnected the whole thing and everything worked. The harness was connected to the ipod box then connected to the radio. I took the harness off to the jack and it works fine now. Hope that helps cause Idk if your year has the ipod jack. Goodluck.

His year shouldn't have an ipod jack unless it was an added aftermarket install. Like mentioned above, your air condtioning/heat controls are part of the factory radio and they are a common failure point. Go with a double din kit. As for the lock, the door lock actuators are another common failure and they aren't cheap either.

Thank you guys for taking the time to give some good responses. Now are you telling me, when I replace my factory radio with a double din, the HVAC controls should work again afterwards? Would I need to physically do anything with them?

If you go the DD route, you'll have to buy one of 2 faceplates available for the conversion: The JDM which retains the factory look or the Metra which is cheaper and looks/feels cheaper. Both have new AC controls that are a part of the kit, so you'll basically replace the whole stock unit.

Best thread ever on replacing the stocker is here, enjoy. https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...urce-list.html
