I mean to each his own. Its not lame its reality now. The feeling of manual is awesome but if u still lose what's the point? And not everyone can master manual. Practice makes perfect only if its Perfect Practice. So he could have his manual for 10yrs and may not learn how to drive it properly. Lots of factors there. But the OP will still lose anyway... Lmao.

You almost completely wrong on everything you said in this post..... actually all of those cars you mentioned are in fact manuals... SMG manuals to be exact. Conventional auto transmissions (like a G35 has) are not the same as SMG transmissions which are used in those paddle shifter Lambos, Ferrari's, BMW M6's, and high-end Porsches. A SMG transmission is literally a manual transmission in which the physical shifting and clutching is done by the computer at the prompting of the driver when he or she presses one of the paddles. The guts of an SMG are a manual transmission, and there is no torque converter or any of the 5-10 mini clutches, or tons of extra gears and moving parts, or auto tranny fluid channels that are in an automatic transmission.

Paddle shifters are not the same as auto. There are plenty of cars out there with paddle shifters that are conventional automatic transmissions. Only the real high end ones have an actual SMG gearbox being controlled by those paddles(BMW M5/M6 for example, or any of those SMG Lamborghinis).

A manual transmission is in fact more efficient than an automatic transmission because it has less parasitic loss than an automatic transmission with the same gear ratios and number of gears, due to the fact that there are less moving parts and no torque converter to spin. That means that if you have cars that are identical in every way except that one has an auto tranny with a 6 speed gearbox and the other has an auto with a 6-speed gearbox (with the same gear ratios as the manual), the one with the manual will both get better fuel economy and put more power down to the wheels.

So just for clarification... Is there an additional peddle that has to be pressed down before you up or down shift in an SMG?

Depends on the car. Factory SMG cars like the types of cars you gave as examples (the Lambo/Ferrari/Porsche) would not have an extra pedal for the clutch because the computer controls the clutch at all times. However, if you were to take a look inside those SMG drift cars or some entry-level stock cars that have a sequential gearbox, they would have a clutch pedal. They just pull the shift lever in the center up or down to upshift or downshift but still can use the clutch to smoothly start out from a stop or to dump the clutch and either do a burnout from a stop or kick the tail end out in a corner.

You are crazy if you think you even have a chance beating him in a race. Just because women might think our cars are the fastest thing in the world doesnt mean they actually are. The only way you would have a chance beatin him is if you had a g sedan 07 and up or an 07 an up 350z then you would have the better motor other than that our cars are meant to look good and speed once in a while. You could also run a turbo or supercharge it then you might have a chance but def not wit your mods or any mods that doesnt involve force induction,

This is not an auto vs manual transmission thread. If you guys wanna bicker about that, do it somewhere else.
