Is it illegal to go zero to the speed limit as fast as you can?
Stupid laws were made because of stupid people. Most of our laws exist because of this fact. If we could self-regulate, we would have no need for laws. Nor would it need to be so complicated. The basic speed law can pretty much sum up all the speed laws we have. But so many people use poor judgement, we have to be much more specific. Not to mention that the legal process have become so construed with technicalities that it requires us to be very clear with the way laws are written. And top be clear, cops are as stupid as we are as there are plenty of laws written in a manner to also protect us from cops.
I was going in a freeway and have been trying to catch up to a guy going super fast then a cop in a center devider caught me instead of him I was at 80mph he was like 90mph and I had to pay with my tax money 350$

In Texas (Plano area), I got excessive acceleration twice as a young driver. I think a lot of it was the noise the car made (300z).
Later in life, I bought my G, and I was pulled over for "reckless driving".
He said "do you know why I pulled you over?"
And I replied 'because I don't keep an ugly registration sticker in my windshield?" (lol, I keep it in my glove box).
He explained that I left the light too fast. And that someone could have ran the red light and I could/would have been hit by them. I pleaded that the red light offender is the real issue, and my car was idling rough at the red light and I was seeing if I could "clear it out before I hit the speed limit".
I got away with my reckless driving and got a ticket for no registration in my window.
Took my proof of registration to the courthouse and said "sorry forgot to put my sticker on" and they dismissed it after a 10$ fee.
The sticker still isn't in my window haha!

I wouldn't really say stop in the middle of traffic and floor it to the speed limit... Because stopping in traffic in and of itself is a ticket for obstructing traffic or obstruction of lane, etc.
But if you are rolling there is no reason why you cannot accelerate to the speed limit.
Here in SFL cops tend to be pretty lax on speeds (within reason) unless it is that time of the month to meet their quota.

Is this a joke? No reason you can't accelerate to the speed limit (you obviously mean at ridiculous/unnecessary rates) without regard to public safety? Do you think every a-hole who stomps on the gas has the ability to drive a 4000lb thrusting death machine in the safest way possible? These laws are put in place to keep people safe not to keep others from having fun
There is nothing wrong with quick acceleration as long as you are a responsible and good enough driver to understand when and where you should do such things.
Some drivers act as if they are twelve years old

A friend of mine just recently got a ticket for this. We were at a red light, and he accelerated quickly from a stop, and once he got to 45mph (the speed limit) he put it in 5th gear and started coasting. The cop pulled us over for "racing" because there was another modified car near us, even though we never passed the speed limit.

Neither of them were accelerating and they were doing 30 mph.
