Anyone Install a Remote Starter on their G?

I’m going to be upgrading the security system in my G coupe. I wanted to also add a remote starter. I’ve heard that remote starters can (will) damage the starter. Has anyone else heard this? Has anyone had experience with remote starters causing mechanical problems (e.g. starters, electrical, etc)? I’m looking at the CrimeStoppers unit (http://crimestopper.com/remotestart03.html unit RS900) and the Viper 790 (http://www.viper.com/security/viper/..._rs.asp#800esp). Both units have pager system also.

Thoughts?

Ra!

Don't know about damaging your car, but I do know that the imobilizer on this car makes installing one difficult. I think someone on this forum found a unit that you had to have a key from the car (with the chip) inserted into at all times.

we installed the viper 790 on our maxima with the autostart. it's good, but sometimes it's not accurate. i remember that one day it just kept beeping for no reason. the only thing that sucks is that you lose a key because they have to install that key somewhere in your dash in order to have the autostart. is your car auto or manual?

Man, that's what I am really going to miss when I trade my Acura TL in for the G35 coupe. Can't, or shouldn't rather add the remote start to a manual tranny. I have a Clifford IQ 9000 series alarm with the remote start feature added to it and it has worked great from day 1 .........had it installed in 1999. It is funny when someone is eyeballing your ride when your not around and they feel safe to mack all over your ride because your not there.......and then...you start your car while out of site......you should see the look on people's face . I start mine from atleast a block away. And what is also great is that in the winter or cold months you can have your Bun warmers all toasty when you get in ..........wahhhalaaa to cold seats .......in the summer ........no 150 F car as you auto temp cools down the car. This was/is a great feature to have when your out at a restuarant or theater/ shopping/ etc and auto start your car from inside just before you leave. Plus on quick stops to the ATm at night, you can auto run your car an remove your keys while your away and your car will continue to run for a specified time. I could go on.....but lets just say I think it is an AWESOME upgrade. The ONLY con, is that the immobilizer is inactive and yes i had do u a key for the immboziler which is taped......i used my valet key. And did have to pick up an additional immobilzer piece from Acura. But was well worth it. If I were getting an auto I'd definetly get this add on.

I saw a remote car start system on <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2412786619&category=33 724">eBay Motors</a> that allows you to use your OEM remote keyless entry to start the car without adding an additional alarm system to your G. Might be worth a look</p>

I had the Crimestopper unit on my F150 before getting the G. Absolutely loved it. Never heard of damage to the starter..

You will need the extra adapter for the key chip or hide a programmed key somewhere in the proximity of the ignition...

i dont think its even possible on the G...because you have to engage the clutch inorder to start the ignition, and the clutch is mechanically controlled by the pedal

You can do IT! (On a 6MT)

I had this done on e my Z awhile back and all they do is by pass the signal to the ECU for the clutch. But I still wouldn't recommend having a remote start on a 6MT. Someday you might forget that you placed it in 1st or Reverse (For whatever reason) and then try to remote start the car. You look outside and your car is plowed into another car or drove off a cliff.... =P

Re: Anyone Install a Remote Starter on their G?

yea you can definatley put a remote start on a 6MT....its all about bypasses. And all this talk about hiding a key near the ignition??????? WHERE DO YOU PEOPLE LIVE???? CANADA???? Ya'll must have some shitty custom shops round where ya'll are....or even best buy or cc shops....all you need is bypass chips and or software..which will cost you an extra $25-50 tops on top of your alarm and your authorized DEI dealer and installer will handle it all for you.

The dealership offered me the option for $500! Anyway if it isn't done by Infiniti it will void your warranty I think.
