Title change - 05 G35c at invoice price?

Hi,

First post here. Looking to become a G35 owner tomorrow. I think I may have found my car tonight. Please let me know what you think of this deal. Quick replies appreciated!

04 G35 Coupe. $29,900
Automatic Transmission
17,800 mi
Silver with black leather interior

P01 Premium Package
Includes Bose 225-watt audio system with AM/FM cassette with radio data system, 6-disc CD changer and 8 speakers, power tilt/slide glass sunroof with one-touch open/close and pinch protection, auto on/off headlights, dual zone climate control with and interior air filter, HomeLink universal remote transceiver and electrochromatic rearview mirror.
Aero package (Just the rear wing and diffusers)

W02 Performance Tire and Wheel Package
Includes 18" aluminum alloy wheels with 7-spoke performance design, P225/45R18 front and P245/45R18 rear performance tires and titanium-trimmed center cluster.

R01 Aero Package
Includes rear spoiler and underbody aerodynamic side fairings.

B94 Splash Guards
Includes 4-piece, body-colored splash guards.

A92 Trunk Mat

The car has two scratches in it that the dealer is going to fix. Overall the car is in excellent shape. The rear tires have about 7k left on them, but that appears to be the going rate from what I have read on this forum. The fronts look very good.

So what do you think? The dealer is also doing 3.99% financing for 63mo.

I was able to get black book pricing which is leading me to buy the car:

MSRP: $31,800
Loan Value: $27,945
Model#: 99014
Price Incl: AT AC LTH SR
Mileage Cat: C

Black Book Retail as of 01/03/05

Extra Clean Clean Average Rough
Base $34,225 $33,225 $30,850 $28,300
Options $0 $0 $0 $0
Mileage ($500) ($200) $0 $0
Total $33,725 $33,025 $30,850 $28,300

Black Book Trade-In as of 01/03/05

Clean Average Rough
Base $29,620 $28,040 $23,590
Options $0 $0 $0
Mileage ($200) $0 $0
Total $29,420 $28,040 $23,590

Thoughts?

The alternative is to try and fight for invoice pricing on a new leftover 04. Has anyone gotten invoice on an 04 AT coupe. If so where?

Thanks
Kevin

Pointman1 - Do you have the premium package?

The dealer is an Infiniti dealer - Does that make it automatically a part of the Infiniti "Certified" Pre-Owned program? Or do I have to make sure of that?

Thanks

I don't think thats a very good deal. Someone already put 17k miles on that car and you are still paying $30k. I got my car for less than $35k for the car described above but with Nav included (minus aero package). I say go after a new 04 aggressively or call Grubbs to see if they have any leftover 04s. Dealers are willing to giv eyou invoice on 04s I bet. Good luck.

Not raping but not great, we paid $32.5 a month ago for brand new '04 exactly as you describe above.

I'd say pass on that deal...As much as I'm sure your chomping at the bit to finally own this car, don't let the adrenaline get the best of you...Be patient and you'll be much happier when you finally decide on one that you knew you got the right deal on...I'd say look for an O4'...I bought a new 04' 6mt IP/Graphite with premium package, aero package, splash guards, and trunk mat from a dealer in NJ 6 months ago and they went down to 32.5k plus tax and all that other bull...Bottom line is it was brandnew and 6 months ago, since then the 05's have rolled out, so I'm positive you can score a better deal then I got...I think many of us think buying used is a very good technique because it NORMALLY saves you thousands, that the original owner lost in depreciation...But I think many of us with G's came to realize that since this car doesn't seem to be losing its value at the same rate as other cars, many of us opted to buy new for an extra 2-3k then to save that cash and have somebody elses 15-20k miles on her...Even if you can't buy new I think you can find a better used car deal then the one you mentioned...But my advice to you is that if you can afford to do another 2-3k then buy new...Used 04's are selling for (28-31k) a new 04' should cost you (31-33k) G'luck and let us know what your final decision was...

The problem is the best deal a dealer has made is $1k under MSRP on a new 04. I have emailed many dealers that have the car I want (Which is pretty limited - there are about 7 G35c in the southeast that meet my criteria). I am not getting much of a response from them.

If I find a new one for invoice or around $32.8 I would take that. But no one is offering that at this time. I just got off the phone with a dealer and told them I wanted invoice and 2.9 for 60mo and they basically told me they would check but they didn't think so and would call back.

To answer my own question above, this dealer does not participate in the Infinity Certified Used program. So that is not in their favor.

Seems high to me. That's a lot of mileage for an '04. I don't think I'd pay more than 27 or 28K for that car, assuming its service records are complete and it wasn't modified prior to being sold. I'll bet you could get a new '04 for 2-3K more if you shopped around.

The best alternatives I have come up with for new 04 Coupes Leather w/AT, Premium pkg, 18in wheels and tires, splash, trunk mat, BSM's is $33567+tax+title+$500 doc fee. So they are $800 over invoice with a not friendly doc fee. I would also need to add the rear spoiler at about $500.

This was as low as this dealer would go - They 2.5 hours from me - The closest that has my car in stock.

I have another dealer that is at true invoice on an 04 G35c with the same options as below but it has 1000mi on it - so it is a demo. They are about 5 hours from me.

Both dealers can do 2.9% financing for 60mo.

I don't know how you guys got invoice on these cars, because I can't seem to do it.

Take the $33567 one. It has almost no miles and that alone is piece of mind.

Why buy a used one at a price you should be able to get a new one for?

Look around. Be patient. There has got to be some brand new 04 Gs out there. When you find one I'm sure the dealer will be more than happy to part with it at or below invoice!

OK - Long story short after a long day talking to many dealers yesterday -

I have a dealer offing me invoice on an 05 G35c AT - Equipped exactly how I want it. DG w graphite interior, Premium, Aero, 18in Wheels + Tires (Like the 04 wheels - don't like the new 19in wheels). He is dead on the 05 invoice according to Edmunds, has a $500 doc fee and is offering 3.69% for 63 mo.

My other alternative is a 04 G35c equipped exactly the same way as the 05 with 1000mi for $300 under invoice with only $100 doc fee. Slightly lower interest rate with 2.9% and I will have to spend about $200 to travel and get it.

This is a no-brainer right? Get the 05 at invoice and slightly higher payment? I know it will not come with the VSLD. But it will play MP3's!!

Any other thoughts/opinions welcomed.

Thanks again for all the advice
Kevin
