Momentum Intake dyno sheets?

Hey guys,

I just picked up a brand new Momentum Performance intake (black) from National Speed for an incredible $265. I always had my eye on their intake because of the location of where it draws the air from. However, the price was a bit high for me while they were in business. I'm not a big fan of aftermarket intakes on our cars because none provide decent gains for the price. However, since the price was pretty damn cheap I decided to pull the trigger. At the moment I'm running a Z-tube, Rev-up airbox, and K&N drop in since this combo seems to provide or maintain the best gains (read: not fvcking much.) Anyways, after searches on here, my350z, google, etc. I have found no dyno sheets of the Momentum intake. Can anyone provide before/after dyno charts of this kit? Thanks again!

-Sean

Very nice CB Coupe....=oP

Looked at the intake Sean, positioning it behind the grille it will pick up cooler air rather than the engine compartment. In the real world Sean regardless of what manufactures claim (they all do) there's no HP gains from intakes. Where the HP shows up is after you've installed plenum spacer along with HFCs and a high flow exhaust, which you already have. Now you have cooler air and more of it being exited quickly. Are you ready for an Osiris tune, you'll have good results...Gary

That is exactly why I picked it up. My main reason for not purchasing another aftermarket intake was that SRI like the pop charger pick up nothing but hot engine bay air. And CAI from the corner or the bumper are prone to sucking up water in heavy rain and have a sharp loss in throttle response. So while this is technically a CAI and I may experience some reduction in throttle response, I have eliminated two of my three reasons preventing me from buying. Plus the price was just too good to pass up. Anyways, I know there are a few HP that can be had from intakes, mainly SRI like the JWT. However, they cannot overcome the issues of heatsoak and drawing in excessively high temp air and therefore lose power over stock. I too believe that there aren't gains to be had from intakes, but this one has me guessing. If Momentum was true in saying that behind the bumper is one of the few high pressure zones in the nose of the car, then the basic laws of physics maintain that air will always flow from higher pressure zones to lower. I.e. more air into the intake over the standard draw from the vacuum. That is one of the few reasons I thought there might be, although small, gains to be had from Momentum's intake. But in all honesty, even in there aren't gains, and I don't lose power anywhere I'll be happy with just the intake nose! My buddy Jerry(jbwrecked) and I are going to do some before and after intake temp data logging next week. Then I'll most likely do a before/after dynos to answer my question.

As far as Osiris, I only need the axle back from the Motordyne TDX V2 to complete my exhaust. I already have ART pipes, an XYZ, and the TDX V2 muffler for the exhaust. I'll probably be purchasing the rest in late March or early April from Motordyne themselves. At that point, I will make a small road trip to UpRev in Austin and have my car tuned. I'm really looking forward to it since I am running pretty damn lean at the moment. Thanks for the reply Gary!

When you head this way let me know and I'll meet you over there. I have been there so much I think Rich is going to put me on the payroll.

Putting names with faces was by far the coolest part of my road trip to cali last Sept. for the sedan GTG meet so it would be great to meet you as well. And no I didn't go to Cupcake, work got in the way. However I believe I'll be at Nismo Fiesta in April, you?
