What it does have to do with is a lapse in judgment and a loss of control of his vehicle which unfortunately in this case cost the driver his life. VDC is designed to assist a driver who is on the verge of losing control of the vehicle regain control. VDC would be a hinderance for track days, the drag strip, autocrossing and organized drifting events and it would be appropriate to turn it off.

i think we can all agree on these points:

1. VDC does no harm unless you are concerned about not being able to have full power in the first few gears.
2. VDC should be on if its raining/snowing/etc.

So as long as you turn it on when its bad weather out, and only turn it off when you want to do some racing in a controlled environment when you've had plenty of experience and are not endangering others lives, then you're being a responsible individual. Anything else is just being immature and racing where you shouldn't, or believing that you are better than a human being is. None of us are perfect, and VDC is designed for those moments when we make mistakes.

^ That's obvious. You can still lose control with VDC on, so that whole story with the accident is irrelevant to the topic, especially since there is no proof but it is only assumed to have been off since he was racing and most G owners should know about VDC if they were to race.

If you're a safe driver and save the aggression for the tracks then it would be dumb to turn it off and risk your own safety, since there's always the chance for the unknown to happen (another driver's error, unexpected weather or driving conditions, etc.)

Regardless, in whatever vehicle you're in, if you're screwing around then you're putting your safety at risk, so this has got nothing to do with VDC being on or off for daily driving.

The difference is that the VDC will help keep the car under control if you loose traction. Based on your question, I have some questions for you...

1) How much experience do you have with RWD vehicles?
2) Does it rain/snow a lot in your area?
3) How many years have you been driving?
4) Have you ever kicked the @ss end out on your G?

Mine is OFF anytime it is dry. I got tired of getting on freeways and having the damn car understeer on the loop. I know what the car can and cant do. The loops are alot more fun with it off and powering through them.
