I'm ok until the ugly orange monsters under there start showing. Thinking it would be wise to repair early?

I think you should, the bigger the cracks get the more its going to cost to repair them. The biggest crack on my dash was about 3inch long right smack-dab in the middle, I ignored it and it grew an inch -_-. I blame the Texas heat for my cracks.

I wonder if it is a heat correlation to this. I live in the Northeast where it's mostly cold all year round, and my car is parked under covered parking most of the day. Like i said before, 150K miles..no cracks.

Crack Dash Alternative. Cover King (Pictures)

The Dealer wanted over $1500 for a new Dash and installation, Cover King Suede was the best alternative I could find. The Fit and Finish is pretty good. I would strongly recommend it at about $35 at Amazon.com.

Cover King Suede on 05 G35, Drivers side.

Cover King Suede 05 G35 center area.

Cover King Suede 05 G35 Center and Passenger area

Is this one piece cover or did you have to piece it together

Yes, the stealership will rape you from the back with no lube. They wanted like $4k to replace my entire NAV/CD changer with a factory unit, when that thing is ancient! i found one in ebay for $350, and installed by the dealer for another $350.

I'm a fairly new G-coupe owner, and bought my 05 with about 3 small cracks spread across the dash.

I've had this same issue on one of my older cars, a 2000 Honda Accord coupe that had 130k miles when I sold it. I believe this is a material issue more than a Sun/heat/cleaner issue. I know some people recommend not using Armor all for your dash, but I used Armor all wipes on one of my cars in college exclusively (a 94 Celica Coupe with black dash) and it never cracked.

So it could be a combination of cheap material used by some manufacturers, and expedited by having your car parked in the sun for a long time (years). I accepted the fact that my G35 had this cracks already when I bought it and it doesn't bother me.

But now I will definitely invest in a good Sunshade.

That dash cover doesn't look too bad.....and I usually think anything non-OEM looks terrible

Crack Dash Alternative. Part 2

The Cracking Dash was cause by a defective Infiniti Material. The cracks occurred on a car that was garage kept, Sun Shade when outside, and professional protectant keeping it moist. The car had only 15 K miles when the cracks started. None of my cars have done this before. Even my 99 Civic that lives in the sun still has a perfect dash.
Anyways the I'm very happy with the Cover King Suede Cover product. I've had it in the Central Florida sun over a year now and it lays down to conform to curves of the dash. Not as good as an Original Dash but a an affordable alternative.

Good to hear. I'm in the same area as you and the car has been parked outside since I've owned it.

I don't particularly like that dash cover, but I guess it will do.

I really believe it is the cheap inferior material that Infiniti uses, as I had a 95 GSR Integra for 12yrs until I got my G35 and the dash was perfect to the day I sold it.

It's actually more fancy and softer than the cheaper cars, but longevity was missed.
