Crack in dashboard
My 05 G35 with only 24 K Miles, now has the dash cracking. The car is garage kept except when I take it to work when it always has a windshield sunshade. Black Magic Professional Protectant has been always used to protect the dash from any drying /cracking. My sales man that still works there said to call corporate Infiniti 1-800-662-6200 and file a complaint. I did, and today I went to my Dealer and had pictures taken. My hopes is that Infiniti will fix it on so sort of recall. I've heard the FX35 is having the same problem. Has anyone had this problem resolved?
Avion, If you had all your maintenance done by Infinity, they will probably pay the $2000. for a new dash. In my case the dealer was 50 miles away. I had all my service (oil changes , tires) done at the Nissan dealer 3 miles away. I fought like hell and they finally offered $500. towards the repair. I could never get that in writing from the Infinity Corp. Still dealing with the crack, which continue to worsen. My car is a 2006, always garage kept. I do have 59000. miles, but also used a sun screen religiously.
It's definatly a defective produce. My Dodge van which has been rode hard has 120,000 miles is 15 yrs old, always left outside. Dash is perfect!!

Cracking Dash
It's error in manufacturing. There's need a class action suite to get Infiniti to repair a known faulty item. My 99 Civic with 135 K miles that lives in the hot Florida sun has no cracks. The same holds true with my 02 TL with the same mileage. Are Nissan/Infiniti interiors that sorry or are Honda/Acura that much better? All the cars have been treated the same way since day one. I just wish Honda would build a rear wheel drive Prelude with V6 pumping 325 HP!

05 Dash Cracking, need solution...
My 05 Coupe with only 24 K miles, that lives mostly in the garage, and is driven just to work, sits in the shade, and has a sun shade, has a cracking dash. I submitted a complaint with Infiniti Corp. Yesterday they said they would not honor any "goodwill" repairs. I mentioned the FX35 is in a recall for the same problem. She said the Manufactuer of the FX35 dash is different so they can't honor a recall. I just think noone has not has pushed the legal button to fix the G35 problem. Does anyone know of a class action suite to fix the dash problem? Besides replacing the dash, has anyone found a tastefull solution to the cracked dash?
I find it really sad that my car is always garage kept or on shade most of the time yet my brothers 2006 Civic Si had a blown engine and was under sun, ran, everything for 3 years and it doesn't have a single crack in the damn dashboard. Yes, a civic has better interior quality than a G35....
Dude mine has the same cracks! This is BS...right above the trim on the dash and runs from one side of dash to the other end... Mines not as bad but I can tell its widening

My girlfriend's 06 sedan has the exact same crack in your first picture on the left. If I start seeing cracking in other areas, I will start the complaint process.I know it is time consuming, but there are those who have had gotten satisfaction with a tremendous amount of effort and time.

From what I've been reading, 05-07 have been affected with 06 having the most complaints. I assume 03-07 should all be cracking, but I have not noticed any complaints with the 03-04 dashes.
I may have a possible solution for you guys (Even though this isn't dealing with a dash crack). When I first bought my G, the previous owner was running some speaker wire behind some of the interior panels. When he wired behind the panel with the cigarette lighter (the panel next to your right leg when driving) he broke the panel completely in half and glued it back together with elmers glue
completely idiotic and looked horrid. Anyways I was tired of looking at it so I decided to fix the issue myself and try to repair the crack. I guess this is a makeshift DIY, I am really sorry to have not included pictures, I didn't take any before or during pics when I was repairing the broken panel. Anyways I will be as specific as possible so here is what you will need:
1. Bondo
2. Sand paper (fine grit of maybe 120)
3. Rust-Oleum American Accents Stone Textured Finish ( This will give your dash or interior piece that bumpy texture look when its finished). Link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rust-Oleum...-Gray/17011225
4. Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric Coating ( I used the Matte Black to match my black interior) Link: http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/ja...FSPhQgodIFIA6w
Steps:
-First you want to sand down the area where you will be applying the bondo. I sanded about 2 inches on either side of the crack.
- Apply the bondo on the backside of the panel. (this provided me with rigidity and durability) allow bondo to dry and harden properly.
-Apply a small amount of bondo on the outside of the panel. (just enough to fill in the crack) allow bondo to dry and harden properly.
-Sand the bondo on both sides of the panel. The rear side to get the panel to sit properly (doesn't need to be perfect because you wont see it) and the front side to get it smooth an flush with the rest of the surface.
-Then spray the Rust-Oleum Stone finish on the surface of the crack and around the sanded area. (wait for it to dry properly, this is the most important part to get the finish to set correctly)
-Once the Stone finish is set, sand the finish lightly until it appears to look and feel the same as the actual finish that the interior parts came with.
-Once the Stone finish is sanded to your liking, use the Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric Coating to finish the look of your interior piece. I used two good coats to get the look I wanted.
-Of course you obviously let the paint dry and your done!
(Note: the part that was broken in my car is not as noticeable as the dash so do at your own risk! It turned out good for me, hopefully it will work well for you too. PM me if you have any questions.)
I didn't do the best job with the bondo so it is 100% perfect, but I don't really care because where the piece sits its not noticeable. Here is my result:

Good luck to whoever tries it!
