With a child on the way I decided to move to a 4 door. With gas prices rising I decided to go for some fun fuel economy. Picked up a 2012 Volkswagen GLI. So far very pleased with my 33mpg and the ride. I will miss the G greatly though!

There's nothing better than knowing when you step on the gas, you're going to go somewhere...and with a great sound at that. GL with the new car and new baby

man, everyones selling their Gs... I wonder with gas prices on the rise if I should sell mine now vs later...

Well, that was one of our reasons for making the move. Other than the obvious 4 doors and 4 season friendly. I drove the new car almost 100 miles today and averaged 31mpg and still have 3/4 gas left. It was a good feeling considering I never averaged more than 22 mpg driving my G like a grandma and 18mpg driving it how I wanted to.

Well my g35 wasn't paid off. The gas prices weren't entirely our decision. We are having a baby and wanted a 4 door that was more 4 season friendly and a more cozy ride. Gas was just a portion of it. I'm not sure why I got such poor gas milage in my G but I did. I figured I'd save about 100 a month on gas and my car payment stayed relatively the same.

seeing the topic for this thread already bummed me out haha! congrats on the baby. but yeah, a G35 isn't always the best car for a family. that's why u buy a 92 accord sedan and keep the G!....j/p.

I miss a lot about the G already...the GLI isn't nearly as much fun to drive but right now I have to be a tad more practical. I'm thinking about saving cash up and buying another one in a couple years as a sunday/drive around car that wont' affect my daily commute. I'll still be on the boards though!

i feel you on the mpg, im right around the same numbers you posted. it kind of sad to think a 400 hp C-6 gets better mpg than us...

22mpg like a gma..? I get like 18 like driving like gma. I don't know why my fuel is so bad. I shift at 3k on the dot. Yea.. it is kinda sad to see other cars with more power get better mpg. ㅠ.ㅠ Why is out motors so inefficient with gas!?

I have been saying this for a long time...

I get about 18 shifting at 3 also. Its ridiculous that our motors have way less displacement and have 2 fewer cylinders than a vette and they can smoke us in a race and fuel economy...

^ Yea.. the VQ motor is the total opposite of what Japanese cars are supposed to be.. practical and fuel efficient cars.. I don't mind that the VQ doesn't fully follow that.. but to be beaten by an American car in speed AND fuel economy puts a lot of question marks in my head as to what Nissan was thinking. I'll still fork the money over for the styling and exhaust tone though. Haha
