What way should I lower my car?
#31
For example, I might put my G back to stock height if I decide to drive it this winter. With coilovers, I can do this in about 20-30 minutes flat, with no cost to me and without even breaking a sweat. I swapped my OEM set-up for my coilovers in my driveway and it took 8+ hours because of all the small irritating problems I encountered.
OP, check the classifieds and allofcraigs.com to see if you can't maybe find a decent used set for a good price. I purchased my Tein Flex coilovers off a local seller who didn't know what he had (he had just purchased the car and went back to OEM suspension) and I only paid $350. Do lots of research and ask lots of questions - the last thing you want to do is buy a busted set.

There is so much consideration with the suspension and then some times the car plays a trick on you. I have Megan 350z springs with Kinetix Racing toes and cambers on my sedan and I am LOW..... if I would have went coilovers I would have raised this thing a bit already. So now I'm going with coilovers... need that freedom of flexibility. just my experience.

Apart from cost, I can't think of any reason why someone would choose to buy springs over coilovers. As mentioned in the example a few posts ago, the costs are almost the same when everything is taken into consideration if you are buying the cheaper ~$1,000 coilovers. I'd rather pay a couple hundred more so that I can one day take full advantage of the adjustable height and dampening should I one day need it.

Struts, on the other hand, last 50-60k. That's more do-able. At least, IMO. Especially considering, if what the ratings say are true, I'll be dropping $600 ever year or so on new struts for the coilovers. I also don't have to deal with needing to raise the car for seasonal changes where I'm from. So that's not a worry for me...
