I'm alittle surprised at how many put the car in neutral. I only do that if there's a pretty great distance till I have to stop.

It is a good amount of work dropping the tranny to get to the clutch, so it is pretty common to want to replace everything as the labor averages about $750 regardless, and the parts are only about $300. But it is not that hard to change out just the bearing. The hardest part is to get the clutch components to line back up since you can't just slap the parts together, and I'd expect most shops to be too lazy to deal with the little bit of extra work to re-use an old clutch.
