I think its just manufacturing.

My solution has always been to reverse up my inclined driveway, this way my door will stay open when im getting out.

 

Well that friggin' sucks! It makes the car to me feel cheap.

 

Just shutting my car door at all makes it feel cheap. I hate the substantial clatter of cheap plastic parts vibrating that you get when you shut the doors on our cars with anything more than absolute minimal effort, rather than the solid tightly engineered and vacuum sealed, cushy thump you get when you shut the door of a BMW or even other well-built (non-high end) cars such as mid 2000's Toyota Camry's and Honda Accords.

Perhaps some of that is due to design of our doors with the lack of a beam affixed directly to the door itself over the windows... but even my old 240SX didn't rattle as much when I shut the doors as my G35 does.
