Advice with buying G35 Coupe

My last car was a Jaguar X-Type (Old Mans Car), and I wanted something sportier, faster, and something that was more for my age and that would be more fun. I sold mine and now am looking for something new. At first I wanted a BMW 330Ci, but then I drove a G35 coupe. I guess I was just looking for some general advice concerning what to look out for, and if their are differences in the years 03-05. I also wanted to ask how many miles you would recommend staying under. In my opinion, high miles don't bother me especially if the car has been maintained. I will be sure to take the car to my mechanic (very reputable for foreign imports) and have him run through the car and inspect it.

Thanks for all the help!!!

Well, i can see that you are looking at one that has the oil consumption problem. I believe it's the 2005 you have to stay away from. Others will help you out on that that are going through it right now. Maybe you can look into a g37. You will like that so much better.

I really don't wanna go over 10k...I drove an 03 yesterday with 110k miles and they wanted $9,000. Something in that range is what I'm looking for.

Not bad. But I think u can do better...

OP, 04 to 05 had the most changes (new interior; revup engine; RAYS)
05 to 06 had few changes (headlights, taillights, spoiler).

Try to get an 05 for around $11k...it's definitely possible. Even though SOME of the 05's have oil consumption issues, don't let that lead u away from an 05, high oil consumption is not that bad. The 05 6MT's have the revup engine whereas the 03-04's don't. This past march, I picked up an 05 6MT fully loaded (premium, navi, sport, and aero packages) (all 6MT's have the sport package) with 102k miles for $11,700. So just keep looking around. I'd definitely recommend an 05+, but that's just my preference cuz I like the redesigned interior and the revup engine.

Good luck on ur search!

if you can maintain a jaguar, then maintaining a g35 should be cake walk.

Alright, that makes me feel a lot better about it!!!!! Do you think high miles are a problem? I won't have the car for a long time, 3-4 years and I won't put a lot of miles on it, and I will take care of it.

are you looking for manual or AT? The AT is less prone to the oil consumption i believe. Maual gives you a 6sp vs 5AT.
